It will be interesting to see how those STi engines hold up in the long run. Subaru in general excels in reliability...there have been many posts about that......but when they took the old 2.2 L block and first increased the displacement to 2.5L they had head gasket problems from the added power and stress on it. That original problem has now largely been solved from modifications and coolant additives....but now they've added a lot MORE stress to the same block with the turbos. I'm not saying they won't hold up....but it bears watching.
And as for Mitsubishi....their engines have a long history of developing upper-block problems like valve stems, valve seals, blown turbos, and oil leaks around 80,000-90,000 miles, so again, we'll see with the Evo's engines.

Well, true, but the days of EJ25 Ver. I are long gone. The block used with the EJ25 turbos is quite improved, and has a new semi-closed deck.

We'll see. Considering I own one, I sure hope it's going to be reliable.

Thought you guys didn't like to see checkbooks (LOL). You make a lot more through financing.

For you mmarshall, I would be happy to do either cash or finance, not a problem.....haha.

I might hold you to that. I'm not too thrilled with our local Virginia Lexus dealership, so I might just go a little further for my next one....if the Subaru people don't sucker me in the meantime with the new Outback.

My 2 cents on the 2.5L V6. Does anyone think that perhaps to get the 265 HP the car will have a hybrid engine in it, giving it more HP than it would of had if it was non-hybrid? I wouldn't be shocked if it is a hybrid, hence the 265 HP. I could be wrong, but I think it'll be a hybrid engine IMO. Only time will tell.

i think the other way around. if they were to put hybrid engine in IS, they would more likely to go for IS350 other than IS250 and making IS350h head to head with audi S4 and M3. they wouldnt bet on IS250h. and plus cost of hybrid are not that cheap and it will boost the cost of IS250 around 36 or 35 K and that is not where 265hps car should be.

265hps in 2.5 liter displacement is possible.

What's the torque figure...do you know? That, of course, is the number that really counts if you are a power junkie.

PR says "over" 275 lb-ft, which is better than:
1. 260 lb-ft @ 4700rpm in the Avalon
2. 270 lb-ft @ 4800rpm in the G35
3. 260 lb-ft @ 5000rpm in the RL
4. 258 lb-ft @ 5000rpm in the E350
5. 274 lb-ft @ 4800rpm in the 350Z
6. 262 lb-ft @ 4900rpm in the M3

And given that the RPM at which the peak torque is achieved is usually fixed no matter how much horsepower an engine is tuned to, I'd say the IS350 gets its 275+ lb-ft at the same 4700rpm as the Avalon, which means........

IS350 OWNS ALL!!!!!

and people are complaing about it being a tad over 40k for an is350
point me to a car that can match the is350 on quality and looks with over 300hp
and 275lbs of torque.
