Yeah...7.1 sec is on the slow side for even the GS300 AWD, let alone the GS430. Must've been some kind of typo or error.

I can't see them including a GS300 in this test when they tested every model with a V8 that had it available. 7.1 seconds does seem abnormally slow and I don't think that's really a legitimate 0-60 for the car but the fact that the GS placed lowest or close to lowest in EVERY performance category, and even lost to the RL in cornering is almost insulting to a V8 powered $62K sedan. I know there's more to any car than just performance but jeez, this situation looks worse than it did before.

I'm just as guilty as many others on here when it comes to trying to justify the weak engines in the 2006 GS (in comparison to the competition) but with so many mags getting 0-60s for the GS 430 in about 6.0-6.4 seconds and many for the GS300 at 7secs+...I can't deny it anymore. The car is underpowered in the context of it's competition. In itself it's not underpowered and more than many buyers will need but when you line it up along side a 5 Series, E Class, A6, or even STS, the GS's spotlight fades in the eyes of performance enthusiasts...which is the group that Lexus was supposed to try and entice with the new car.

Sorry for getting off topic, I know that this post will be deleted.

Maybe you should write to Automobile to find out, all other tests have the new GS430 doing around 5.7-6.0 sec. 0-60, so 7.1 is definitely an anomaly if not a typo, & they rate the car very high too, just second to the Audi.

I am surprised that no one commented about the power gauge that clearly states 250KW which is 335hp!! ...But there is even some more space left after 250 on a meter so it's maybe even more who knows.

In RX400h meter states 200KW which is exactly 268hp like Lexus claims.

KW to HP conversion is 1.34

I think we are sure to say that GS450h will have at least 330hp which is impressive for a V6.

Also it leads us to speculate on 4.6 V8 which will clearely have more than 330hp.

If you take a closer look at the meter you will see that it's divided by 25s (quarters)
Even though the biggest number on meter is 250, the last line on the meter actually shows 275KW which is 370hp!!!

I am droolin righ now...

Good find! I tend to believe the 370hp figure since the electric motors on the RX400h generate 60hp (208hp from the petrol engine and 60hp from the electric motors for a combined output of 268hp) and the 3.5L on the IS350 is gonna produce over 300hp, let's say 310hp. And 310hp + 60hp...is 370hp!!!
