A Lexus exotic/supercar sounds VERY cool to me but I hope it doesn't look like what's pictured in that most recent mag article - especially the front end. Looks very akward and unfinished.

Is it possible that the spy pic is of the Skyline? The spy shot headlights don't look like they belong to the LF-A...

I really hope the GT 500 doors swing upward, that is a COOL supercar feature and would enhance the appeal of the car IMO.

Not likely IMO, since none of the GT450/500's competitors has this feature. You don't see it on the Aston Martins, M6, F430, or even the Gallardo. Then why should the GT450/500 have it?

^^^
Good point, maybe I'll have to wait for the Lexus XGT 600 or something I was thinking back some to other unusual doors, such as the SL gullwing and of course, the occasional super Lamborgini.

Thanks for the scans Mike

0-60 at 4.0 sec. is nice, I hope it will hit sub-4, but it will still be a little slower than the C6 Z06 ?

Notice it's 0-62 in 4.0 secs, which means a sub-4 0-60 time.

Then again, the summary in the yellow box shows conflicting info. I tend to believe the faster one.

I agree. I like the horizontal headlights on the LF-A much better than those Murcielago copies. Hopefully Lexus designers will hear us and change their mind.

The Murci-like headlights is newer, so it's likely they don't like the old horizontal ones. I don't either, they tend to make the nose look too droopy, but not sure I like the verticle ones either, still can't get unmasked views . . .

They were *supposed* to improve the headlights! We pretty much all agreed the front end looked a bit droopy. They seemed to have fixed that but now the headlights look a bit, worse! I hope they did not drop the grille and go for the orange rendering look that was posted. I'm expecting better things from Lexus, the rest of the car looks great.

If the rumor that they are ditching Aluminum for Carbon Fiber is true.... with ~2600lb and 500hp... I'd very much think a sub 4.0 sec 0-60 is possible. In fact, at 2600lb... this thing would be a MONSTER.

An interesting thing to ponder, the new Team Lexus IS350GT will have 450-470hp we think so far, and about a 2800lb weight. They are pitting this against the Ferrari F430. Now imagine the speed and handling of a car with a higher-tech motor, more torque, F1 tranny, and 200 lb less than this IS350GT!!

Default From CarBest mag in Japan

On Edmund's, some guy posted on the GT450, from CarBest mag of May 26, 2006.

http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/Web....ee9e5eb/16080

It will be a 4.5L V10 500HP car. No 5L it appears.... Paddle shifter, but also with a 6-MT. RPM all the way to 12,000. Pics to come, hopefully soon...

12,000RPM!!! No wonder the engine sounds so like an F1 car! SWEET!!

Yeah the 4.5L makes sense particularly since a top Japanese executive said in the first LF-A debut that they were "happy that this engine produces more than 500hp with a displacement of less than 5 liters". As you may have learned from mathematics, 5L is not less than 5L. 4.5L is.

EDIT: Hmm the Edmunds post also says the Supra will come with the 380-400hp 4.6L V8 in the LS460, beats the 370Z's 330-350hp for good but is shy of the next GT-R's 450hp 3.7L V6 TT.
