BestCar Sep.26 issue is stating that the design of the Lexus 4500GT(LF-A) has been modified.
Hopefully they are correct, because the front end especially the vertical headlights seen on the test mule look absolutely repulsive.

Hybrid:
5L V8 - 671 hp (500 kW) / 738 ft-lb (1000 Nm)
Non-Hybrid:
Hopefully it will weigh like 3,306 pounds (1.5 Metric tons)

No clue what the price would be like, probably between $90,000 - $100,000 (non-hybrid) ; $112,000 - $125,000 (hybrid)
Oh yah another thing have something installed in the on-board computer, so you can choose the gear ratio you want, have 3 different ones: Cruise / Sport / Race (F1), similar to the BMW M5/M6.
Also a totally new Mark Levinson soundsystem, similar to the one found in the new LS.
Also a revision of their 8-speed automatic. Similar to BMW SMG or Ferrari F1 Gearbox. So pretty much a semi-automatic.
It would be Toyota Formula One car for the road.
Something like this would scare the living day lights out of any car manufacture that Lexus is up against.
Also it be one of the first Lexus to be in the Ultra-Luxury market.

Yes, I think the handling is waaaay more important than the sub 4.0 second 0 - 60 times. Handling should be the number 1 factor that makes this car a real sports car instead of some big luxury GT cruiser. There are enough of such types of sports-cars-wannabees.

Little off topic. The Ariel Atom fitted with the supercharged engine is 300 hp, in the end car weighs 1100 pounds about, add 2 people each 170 each so can extra 340 pounds, which does like 2.72 seconds. Its almost 600 hp / tonne. Which is RWD / Manual. Imagine that AWD / F1 gear box. True it be a tad slower of the same.
Would be nice to see Lexus / Toyota use the Lotus and Ariel Atom as a model.
Something like Lexus and Lotus coming together making a supercar similar to a road-version race car, cheaper than a Bugatti or something and almost similar in every way too a Lotus / Ariel, it would be heaven on earth.
Only way for that too happen, going to need a huge *** engine
Thats my two cents.
Would be a nice if they do something like that for us.

One thing I hope the drag co-efficiency going to be similar to the LS460 or even better.
One thing I can not wait to see how much power going to come out of the V8, would be interesting to see Lexus use the F1 engine from Toyota, and slightly detune it

You can see the car becoming more and more aggressive looking over the several iterations. Things of note are the big wing, the square rear end, the bigger side vents (could it now be mid-engined as suggested by the article?
), the different front bumper, etc.
It's becoming closer and closer to reality.

Though Lexus spokespeople continue to play dumb with us, pretending that the LF-A coupe that graced the show stand in Detroit in January of 2005 remains merely a concept and nothing more, we know much better, having camped out to see the numerous LF-A-derived prototypes lapping Germany’s famous Nürburgring test track during the last year or so.
While the most recent prototype, seen in these pictures, clearly has a lot in common with the slippery, elegant show car, it appears that several key aspects of the coupe’s styling have changed, perhaps to address initial criticisms that the silky concept LF-A had a bit too much Victoria’s Secret and not enough Hugo Boss in the look of its designer duds. Clearly, something had to be done for the LF-A to be taken seriously by the 911 crowd.
What we can tell by looking, then, by comparing it with the concept (below left) as well as earlier prototypes, is that the production LF-A (right) will have larger, triangular headlamps that will reach higher into the fenders than the demure, quad-lamp treatment seen on the concept. Also changed is the front air dam, which is more aggressive and contains a solid panel in the center where the concept had an aperture. Speaking of apertures, it seems that Lexus has added an additional air intake on the bodyside aft of the door to feed more air to the mid-mounted engine (which last we heard was a V-10 with a rumored 500 horsepower or so). In back, the huge, low-mounted rear grilles seem to have swollen in a most ungainly way, but the trio of center-mounted exhaust pipes remains intact.
Another interesting development is the installation of a massive, fixed rear wing (which would surely be scaled down for production) in place of the smaller version we saw on previous prototypes. Could it be that Lexus is trying to add even more top-end performance, now that Audi has shown us its 187-mph R8? Let’s hear it for one-upmanship!
Considering that Lexus won’t even acknowledge the presence of the prototype you see here, there is no official word on actual engine output, transmission choices, pricing, on-sale date, or anything else we’d really like to know, for that matter. However, our expert conjecture is that the V-10 will be mated to an eight-speed manumatic transaxle when the car goes on sale late next year or in early 2008 with a price tag of about $100K, making it the priciest Japanese car ever to be sold in the U.S.

I prefer this front end to the previous very low placed headlights.
I sure hope they keep those radiator fans on the rear flanks open like on the concept. Makes it look like it has jet engines.
