Default "IS-based SUV confirmed for production"

That's it! That's just one of the headline news I saw on AutoNet, a Taiwanese online automotive publication. Too bad I can't tell you the details because I'm too cheap to pay for the subscription.

But still, if the headline dares say this IS-based SUV is "confirmed" for production....o_O I would very much hope so, only because the previously rumored RAV4-based SUV is not going to do anything to contribute to Lexus's image by sharing another platform with Toyota. A FWD platform won't help either.

Now, discuss!!

How credible is this source? It's all hearsay until it's officially confirmed.

IS-based SUV?

Perhaps they're talking about an IS Sport Cross?

I like the IS Sportcross and considered getting one when I was looking at vehicles many, many years ago.

However, I thought I remember reading that Lexus was planning a small SUV for the European market.

Well the IS coupe is pretty much a given. We all already knew it is coming, to be sure, but the real question is when.

This IS-based SUV news, however, came out of nowhere. There wasn't even much speculation about this possibility before.

But no, I don't wanna pay for rumors that come out of nowhere. If it's true it'll eventually propagate down to a free news site.

Here's the direct link to the article in case anyone wants to pay NT$350 (~US$10.5) for the 1-year subscription.

Just finished a co-op placement at Lexus Canada....and from what I know, it was definitely being discussed....so I'd say the source is coming from someone with a bit of credibility.

You should hear what else is being discussed......

Oh man...PM me with your "what else" please!!

Glad to know an IS-based SUV is indeed under consideration, if not confirmed.

I'd love to elaborate, but I really don't want to jeopardize any future opportunities I might have with TCI/TMC.......I signed a confidentiality agreement before I started, and from what I was led to belive, TMS doesn't screw around when it comes to press leaks and such......

All I can really say is that if things continue to go as well as they have been for Lexus, expect some to see some pretty cool products in the years to come......
