Depending on what you want; the VVT-i makes a considerable difference in low end torque when mated to a turbo and tuned. Talk to Larry at Sound-Performance; he made the AEM to work with the VVT-i on Lex Luthor's car and had nothing but good things to say. Some drawbacks are that the VVT-i blocks are internally weaker compared to non-VVT-i blocks and is limited in power due to no aftermarket support for VVT-i cams/gears. The head is limiting you, but that's if you're looking for more than 600 whp. Currently my plans implement VVT-i. I want to get a GTE block with the oil squirters and mate it to the VVT-i head and my upcoming manual trans. I say go for this car! It's beautiful; plus its black/black a highly desirable 5-speed color combo, if you were to convert!!
