Default Looking for an SC in Florida to buy - In Tampa on the Hunt

Hello all I'm currently the owner of Mazda MX-6 LS (and an old Z24 from when I was a teenager / younger adult) who has been in love with the SC300 and 400 since I graduated from high school in 1993.

The time has come I feel - to stop dreaming and just get one.

Sooo, I'm looking for SC's in the central Florida area to buy. My budget is 4500 after tax/tag/title if at all possible. But special cases that just "too good to pass up" will be heavily considered especially if proper / quality LOWERING work has already been done to the car.

If anyone is looking to sell their SC locally in the Central Florida (or really anywhere in FL and *maybe* as far away are Atlanta on the long end to be honest) please do get in touch with me because I’m on the hunt RIGHT NOW. And I’m much happier with a private sale than a lot car on used vehicles because I can get a MUCH better idea of how that car as been treated meeting someone in person who currently owns it.

I wish I was able to access the DMV database and find where they (SC's) all were and just send out letters to everyone telling them I want to buy their car and ask "how much?" But these perfect options are rarely available are they....

I'd prefer a 1998 SC400, but if a 300 Manual Trans presented it's self I'd certainly jump on it with the right price.

Am I completely insane for thinking I might actually be able to find a SC400 1998 (or up) for 4500 dollars in the 120 to 160K mileage range?

And if I did find one for that price, would I be negligent to think that I'm not being tricked due to some hidden time bomb just waiting to kill the car off moments after purchase?

I will say that I am WELL HAPPY inside the engine bay and should deep work need to be done (anything down to the inside of the block level I can do myself) that I can and would do it.... but I'm also not looking for a "Fixer-Upper" and would MUCH prefer to get at least a clean year's worth of driving out of a Lexus before it's off for thousands and thousands of dollars or parts.

And if no one is currently looking to sell their SC in my area, I’ll continue the hunt on eBay Motors as I have been thus far. What is the general opinion of what I’ve found here if you have a moment:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=110023206248

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230020406891

Also, pretty much every SC I’ve seen on eBay are “reserve” items… what is the general price you can estimate a car that starts bidding @ 2 or 3K like these with similar stats might most often end at in total price? 5 to 8K?

Quick note and apology to start - seems that the methods on these forums are far outside of my regular methods and I missed that the original version of this post was already *moved* into this forum here. If you *do* happen to see both please use this thread and ignore the other one. Mods, feel free to delete the other post located here is you desire:

Again, my sincere apology.

Hey man, I know its a long shot, but what the heck!

Black on baige
I daily drive it
The top of the back seats are worn due to sunlight
The only problem I've had with this car is it hesitates at WOT,just change the spark plugs and wires, which i'll do if you want.
Only reason I'm selling is due to the fact I need a 3/4 ton truck to pull trailers with. What ever I get from this car will be the down payment on the truck.
My uncle lives in St. Pete, so if you want and if I'm free I might be able to drive it to you.

Hello there is your 300 the 2jtt (the twin turbo) motor on a 5 speed transmission? I only see one sides exhaust in the photos but admittedly I'm not 100% educated about the SC series just yet (although I'm no slouch either). I know it's 1993 and inline 6 but I can’t tell from your posts if it's the TT engine and a 5 speed Transmission or not. Or one, or the other. Also, what is the mileage on the car? What was replaced recently on the engine? (water pump, belts, alternator, power steering pump or anything else?)

Give me a heads up if possible, and please do send more photos the engine bay (as many as possible) and any damage to the outside and inside of the car...nicks, scrapes, dents, rips, cracked plastics or other things.

As well, if you can please - give me a list of any aftermarket bolt-ons or other equipment the car might have installed. 1993 is an OLD SC and I'm actually really looking for an SC400 (V-8) but will consider anything once around 4500 dollar mark if it's quality.

not beaten 1998 sc for $4500? That will be very hard to find imo. Im seeing 100-150kmiles 1993-1995 SC's in the 5500-8000 range.

Hey man sorry it tokk awhile to get back to you. Heres my car with a lower price. Don't be afraid to make an offer. It will also need a fuel filter, but thats commen, cheap, and easy to change with these cars, you can search that yourself if you want.
Thanks
Richard
