1995 Lexus SC300 manual trans (Cincinatti, OH)
I'm selling my 95 Lexus SC300 in favor of something a bit more practical. This car has been a pleasure for the last 6 years I've owned it. Great car to learn RWD on. Now that I have a house and am "all grown up," I need to sell this to someone who can enjoy it.
- 173,000 miles
- Pearl White exterior
- Lexus factory tint (installed in 2000 or 2001)
- Tan leather interior: driver's seat 6/10 (no tears, just creases), passenger seat 7/10, back seat 8/10
- 8 way power seats for driver AND passenger
- 2+2 seating (I've had 4 adult males in the car a handful of times. It's not comfortable, but it works)
- All interior electronics/switches in good working order.
- Climate control LCD is difficult to read in cold weather (part goes dark).
- Gauge cluster - 2 segments of speedo needle go off after instrument cluster gets hot. If you dim the cluster, they stay lit all the time. This is a very common issue on these cars, and for its age this is the best condition cluster I have come across. It has been like this since the day I bought it, and shows no signs of getting worse (though inevitably it will one day)
- Factory stereo still in very good shape. 7 speaker system and 12disc changer. No speakers are damaged/blown.
- OEM subwoofer replaced with Alpine MRV-100M amp and Kicker Comp 10" subwoofer. Doesn't pound the seats, just complements the factory stereo well. Amp is hidden inside trunk - no loss of trunk space or visible change from factory.
- Engine still performs very well, runs smooth, no hiccups. Does have some light oil seepage around oil pan and distributor. Does NOT leave any oil drops in the driveway/garage. Expect to replace 1qt per 3000 miles if you drive it hard, or 1/4qt if driving it easy. Though it doesn't smoke as far as I or my friends behind me have ever seen, I expect this difference in oil consumption is due to piston ring blowby.
- A/C blows very cold
- No grinds in transmission
- As with all 14 year old cars, power steering rack does leak some. I top up reservoir about once every 2 months
Now, for maintenance items:
- I do all of my own work when possible. Any parts are replaced by NAPA quality replacements. I have used NAPA parts for years with very good success.
- Michelin all season tires, fronts about 30% tread, rears 70% (just rotated)
- Windshield replaced by Safelite Autoglass about 2k miles ago
- A/C compressor replaced about 10k miles ago
- Starter replaced about 20k miles ago
- Power steering pump replaced about 6k miles ago
- Radiator changed about 5k miles ago
- Plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor replaced about 10k miles ago (OE plugs)
* at that time I checked timing belt as it is nearing service life. it looked BRAND NEW, even the lettering on the back side was still legible. Have replaced if you want, but I personally wouldn't bother for at least 30-40k miles.
- rear brake pads changed ~20k miles ago
- Clutch, water pump, timing belt replaced at 98k miles by previous owner (performed at lexus dealer with Lexus OE parts)
Recently completed maintenance (last week):
- Replaced engine, transmission, and diff fluids
- New front brake pads, caliper pins, dust boots, bushings, pad clips etc
- Rotors freshly turned
- Complete flush of brake & clutch fluids
I am still looking the car over to be sure there's nothing else to be addressed, but I expect this is all.
Asking $6,000 obo. Am have just purchased and '05 RSX-S, so this needs to go quickly. Best way to reach me is by email, as I don't frequent this msg board. If you look at my history, you'll see my last post was in 2003.
I'll get some additional pictures as the weather clears up.

Still heard from no one... Am I asking too much? I feel like similar cars that appear in slightly better condition are at least $1000 more. Then I see them in worse condition for $1500 less??? Where's the happy medium?
Dropped to $6000 obo.

Here's a link to a picasaweb album with a good overview of the car. Please note I haven't had a chance to clean it yet, this is how it looks when "lived in", but I don't think you'll be disappointed. Mostly just dust and a few bugs.

I do have the OEM Lexus black leather bra in very good condition that will be included. It covers the majority of rock chips, as well as the scuff on the driver's side fender.

Rock chips are building up on the front edge of the hood. The scuff on the passenger side quarter panel is from a Tacoma trying to merge into me on the highway. That could've been a LOT worse than it was, as we were on a bridge at the time as well as moving 70+ mph. I like to think of it as "character"
I can go back and get VIN# pics if you need them. No fender or other body panel was ever replaced to my knowledge, with the possible exception of the bumper when the original owner hit a mailbox. One of the headlights was replaced as a result of that accident, and the previous owner then had the other headlight replaced as they looked mis-matched (one slightly yellow, one brand new).
Interior is definitely in good shape, and as I said, I haven't even cleaned it in a couple of months. Should shine up nicely once I find the spare time to do so. I'm not one to have ANYTHING in my cars that isn't needed for the specific trip. I find this leads to cleaner cars over the long run.
So, when will you be up to buy it?
