I don't think he's speaking as a potential buyer , but as one of many folks in here completely frustrated by how these cars are selling WAY below "book value" (although I'd say whatever folks are PAYING for them is the true market value). Book Values > Market's willing to pay
Check out this book value source I've always found to be helpful and on-target:
2001-2006 Lexus LS 430 Prices
What's interesting is that I'm going to check out an '04 UL tomorrow with LOW miles and CHERRY condition that's $5-10k below these book values with a clean record.
Right now it's a buyer's market. Much like with the stock market right now, it's a BAD time to sell; sit tight and pray your LS increases in value when the economy and markets rebound as oil plummets?

Thanks for your comments and opinions, please tell friends and relatives that we can get together to negotiate an agreeable price, fair to both parties.
Points:
We bought new
Dealer serviced
A/C off before engine off
Wheels straight when parked
New battery
15,000 mis left on tires
22mpg over 33,000+ mis
No navi, use MapQuest it is much more user friendly
This is one sweet ride, you know if you've ever driven one.

Salilo22, please provide more detail, $23,500 on a trade does not tell us what it is worth. What did you trade it for? The dealer must have discounted it on the new car purchase? Need your help here, what is the car worth on the open market? Thank you.

Cocoon, I went to the dealer to buy an IS-F without trading anything in...They wanted $56900 for a demo IS-F with 5k miles on and i negotiated that down to $53k with 3.9 APR....I was trying to figure out my financial situation and seeing if it is worth to keep the LS or ask the dealer how much would they give me for it? I didn't even had an LS with me , as i had no intentions to trade her in. I asked them after i negotiated the price...They said they would give me $17k for it and i laughed and told them that's just an insult since car is extremely clean not even a scratch on her and it is an ULTRA-LUXURY LS. So i told them i wouldn't take any less than $24k since i owed about $23k on it....After an hour of negotiations they agreed to give me $23,500 for it without even looking at it. I guess they looked up the service history with the VIN #. I walked out of dealership with an IS-F and they sent someone down to my house to pick up the LS. If any questions you can PM me...and Good Luck with your sale

Salil022,
Great response, thank you very much.
I'm going to go back over this to figure out how you did.
I have a local independent dealer interested, yes I expect the usual low ball offer, but he is a high-line buyer with Porsches and the like on showroom floor, so
just maybe his intentions are good, sells, he says, world-wide, via eBay, we'll see.
Thanks again.
