V10 500hp super concept
At the 2005 Detroit show Toyota finally unveiled its super car concept the LF-A (LF stands for Lexus Finesse). And Lexus was only too eager to compare the LF-A to the established super cars like the Aston Martin DB9, Mercedes-Benz SL55, Porsche 911 Turbo and the Ferrari F430. Which is fair (as it turns out), but they kept the lid on what would be propelling this car to its 200mph (320kph) speed.
Now we know there will be a 5.0 liter V10 engine with roughly 500hp and plenty of Formula 1 gadgets from the Toyota stable.
Judging from the roof line in these spy photos, the Lexus LF-A will most likely come with a folding hard top instead of the standard coupe form as seen in the original LF-A concept. Or will they go all out and make both?
No one is sure about when we will see a production version, but rumors are that the 2007 Tokyo Show will get the honors of showing the LF-A first.

If you look at the post on this page where there are full size comparisons between the front end of the one tested and that of the autoshow, you can tell that the lights are actually much taller than that of the other ones. By taller i mean longer, check out the post.
I think Lexus has changed the front end generously
EDIT: the spied one also has fog lights

all this speculation is a bit silly, but if Toyota builds their supercar exactly like the LF-A, it will fail.
even Lexus loyalists wouldn't buy it, and the pt is to introduce more buyers to the Lexus line.
Lexus is about to release a new V8, V10, 7 or 8speed auto, "clutchless" auto, I bet an active air suspension. I don't think they will screw up.

May as well add this in here instead of creating a new thread.
Lexus LF-A spotted in testing

Lexus has always had a very specific stereotype with me, and I share it with you unapologetically. As far as I have always been concerned, Lexus was the rich man’s Buick. Squishy suspension, muted feedback and handling that just wasn’t quite right. To put a stronger point on it, it is my grandpa’s kind of car — he’s owned LS 400 after LS 400 for as long as they’ve been around. The SC 300, SC 400 and the IS 300 have been somewhat of an exception, I’ll concede that, but the jury even came back on those to say they’re still off the mark. With the LF-A, that stereotype has been turned upside down.
While the LF-A concept was sitting pretty at Tokyo, its heavily-camouflaged sibling was making the rounds at Nurburgring, caught in spy shots posted on channel4.com. Lexus execs spilled the beans that the car will have a V-10, probably over 500 hp and a top speed of 200+. The rear wheel drive with front-engine layout is promised to be the ultimate in weight distribution
