Toyota wanted LF-A in Bond film...

...Toyota offered up something significantly more upmarket. Apparently, they approached the filmmakers with enough dough to fill the bed of a Tundra and proposed having their upcoming supercar (presumably the production version of the LF-A concept) be Bond's ride of choice.
...In true Bond style, 007's mode of transportation for most of the movie is an Aston Martin. The luxury automaker is showcasing its newest product, the Aston Martin DBS, a car that captures the elegance of a DB9 and the power of a DBR9 race car.
It's a role coveted by other automakers. According to Al Uzielli, senior advisor, Ford Global Brand Entertainment, Toyota offered the Broccoli family, owners of the Bond franchise, a multi-million dollar deal to put Bond behind the wheel of Lexus' supercar.

Considering that the Bond film is now in theatres, and the prototype LF-A's are still lapping the Nurburgring (heavily camo-ed but showing slight changes with each car), I don't really think the timing would have worked out. The car would have had to of been ready a year or more ago to be included in filming.

Good point. Considering that they still haven't even figured out the headlight design, by some accounts...
Plus there was the risk of opening with a new Bond film, untested.
If I saw the trailer with a different car than that Aston Martin being destroyed, I might have cringed...there are better ways to debut a car.
OTOH, I thought "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "Goldeneye" did a good job of showcasing the Z4 and 7-series, respectively. The 7-series flew off a roof in TND but it didn't seem so badly damaged on screen. Off-screen, I read that they were hoping to salvage the car after that stunt and it might have been possible, but ultimately there was too much damage.

Bonds needs an Aston... thats it... no bmw, no lexus. That said, I wouldn't be opposed to the LF-A being in a car chase with the Aston... like in Tomorrow Never Dies, the Vanquish and the Jag XKR were going at it.

maybe in the next bond film they can have an asian bad guy driving the LF-A...then have a chase scene with a modified XKR or something...doubt aston would make another car, maybe the AMV8, but probably too small for bond =P

If Bond drove BMWs previously, I don't see what's wrong with him driving a Lexus supercar. And the excuse that Bond drove a 2000GT because the movie took place in Japan is not a very good one.
In Casino Royale, Bond drives two different Astons, one in the Bahamas, and another one in Montenegro. I guess he shouldn't have been driving those because he wasn't in Britian right .
