I read in either C&D or R&D where they said they too said the LFA will be pushed back to 2011 and will cost at or over 200K. Not sure if it is true or how reliable their sources are but that is very disappointing if true and Lexus and Acura are taking way too long to release their high end sports cars. They seem to be playing a waiting game so they can slightly one up the other car when they find out its performance numbers but they may not realize people are quickly loosing interest in these cars the longer they wait and there is alot more very good competition out there. They can always make some changes to boost power or improve the handling after the car is on sale after a year or so to keep it fresh instead waiting and putting the dates back to try to one up each other.

Stuttgart, Germany, August 12, 2013 -- Audi announced today the R9, successor to the now legendary R8. The R9 improves on the R8's formula delivering spectacular performance with more light weight materials, new fuel cell engine developing either 600 or 780HP depending on model, driving range of 1000km, continuously variable transmission, all wheel drive, and AI suspension.
Audi says the R9 has been timed completing a circuit of the Nürburgring in just under 7 minutes, a new record.
Audi's R9 release was timed to beat the upcoming release of Lexus' long awaited LF-A, its first exotic sports car. After many rumors, promised delivery dates, and being shown in various forms at car shows for 9 years, the latest expected release date for the hybrid exotic is January, 2014. We look forward to reviewing it.

Haha, funny...
I wonder whether the LF-A's perennial show-queen status may have been dictated by a bit of inconsistent market planning. Lexus typically has kept its product development more secretive, and new products have been released either a) with no concepts shown at all or b) with 1 concept vehicle shown. The autoshow consideration is secondary. Maybe having seen the supercar concept designs, they thought of showing the concept LF-A as a stopgap measure to drum up interest, but in doing so whetted the appetite of many, and now it's back to the secretive, Lexus long timeframe development approach.

How can the car be delayed, when there is no offical release date yet?
Some of these "automotive" journalists need to more research, and also need to brush up on their English language skills.

For the car to be delayed, by definition we would need to know some sort of release date or planned timeline officially from Toyota in order to call it delayed.

act later than planned, scheduled, or required; "Don't delay your application to graduate school or else it won't be considered"

Knowing Toyota and how they have historically handled such significant vehicle launches, Toyota will debut the production LF-A mostly unannounced, and when people don't expect it. The IS-F was a good example of that.
There remains a lot of doubt and mystery regarding the LF-A launch date, and Toyota definitely wants to keep it that way. I can't wait to see/hear the responses and reactions of all the critics when the production LF-A makes it's sudden debut, and knowing Toyota it definitely will be a sudden and unpredicted debut.
