Hmm, I think it was R&T that said it'll be called the GT-F since GT500 is already taken by Ford

I was thinking IC just like SC, but I think Lexus will probably be wanting to promote the IS brand even further, just like BMW has the 3-series as its iconic car. Fortunately Lexus has given itself flexibility because IS stands for "Intelligent Sport" according to the US promo vids (S not for Sedan like in other Lexus models)...

this opens the door for an IS 350c or IS 460 C however they want to call it.

GT-F sounds very good

Looks like a wannabe-Bimmer if they do the IS350c.

Perhaps ISc350? I dunno...

Or just IS350.
G35 has no coupe designation.
I find it redundant to have a coupe designation. You can tell it's a coupe.

He's right, Lexus corporate commissioned Rod Millen Motorworks back in 2003 to build a custom IS430. This means they have been seriously thinking about it for a while, and decided to wait until the new platform to actually go through with it.

Well that's only held true for the SC thus far. But I think it would be dumb to create a brand new name plate just for the coupe/convertible or to give it any special naming at all. If you can't tell it's a coupe than... hell you're dumb.

Doesn't IS stand for Intelligent Sedan or something?

IS = Intelligent Sport

I think it's a deliberate thing, shift from Luxury Sedan / Executive Sedan / etc.

Of course the 1 IS had an IS 300 SportCross...

Then again there's the LF-C...coupe

...but this is the LF-A thread and supposedly it might be GT-F...

Wow 550hp...now that's really something. It actually sounds about right, given the same displacement as but with a 1000rpm higher redline than the M5.
