I hope it's true & it BETTER be, the LF-A is still ~2 years away from launch, the competition aren't standing still . . .

550 would be nice, but if they get closer to 600 would be even nicer, atleast it have the same horsepower as the Viper and Corvette when those models come out in 2008 also.

[fainted] Wow, I'd always heard they were aiming for 3000 or under, but 2600? That car would wipe the floor with most exotics out there... especially anything under $200,000. Any clue how much the Nissan GTR is gonna weigh in? With a price tag of 60 or 70, there's no way it can be an all carbon fiber car. I'm gonna guess its gonna be no less than 3,000lbs.

Sorry but no way in bloody hell the LF-A will weigh 2600lbs...

IF THE LF-A WEIGHS 2600lbs, I even say 2700lbs, I will sing "WE ARE THE WORLD" and post it on Clublexus.

The RX-8 doesn't weigh 2600lbs. There use of lightweight tech would be immense and the cost of this car around $500,000, unless Lexus eats the cost.

Considering this is a LEXUS. which means it will have tons of luxury and tech, it will weigh 3300lbs.

The 911 TURBO weighs 3500lbs.

3300 pounds would sound about right but 2600 would be even sweeter lol

9 months until the Tokyo autoshow

All carbon fibre is the rumor. Make that sub 3000lbs and ur on. Cuz personally I dont think they can do 2600lbs either.

An optimistic 2800 at best.

Hmm, yea I just checked the weight of both the F430 and the Gallardo. They are both slightly less than 3200lbs. I think you guys are right on, considering this is a Lexus, it'll have a few more goodies in it that adds weight.... so 3300-3500 is probably what its gonna be. UNLESS toyota in their manufacturing genious has figured out a way to build a carbon fiber monocoque for much cheaper than others. Now i'm just dreaming...

I'm wondering about the next time we will see details of the LF-A...perhaps Tokyo at the end of the year?

Also, this article from the Bangkok Post suggests that the IS coupe is expected next year...

http://www.bangkokpost.com/020307_Mo...07_motor55.php

The site URL articles shift after a day, so here is the quote:

The A5 is also vital to secure sales before new players arrive from the Japanese camp. The all-new Infiniti G35 Coupe', alias Nissan Skyline Coupe', will be launched in New York next month and Lexus's new IS Coupe' is due next year.

id be very highly surprised if the lf-a is under 3,000lbs.

i cant imagine lexus building the car to be a raw race car. i would imagine that the car remains "a lexus" in feel, refinement, etc. as such, that adds weight. combine that with the fact that i doubt it will be all composite (at ~$100k msrp), and it seems very unlikely that the car will be sub-3k lbs.

thats not to say it cant be relatively light weight- id look for it to be around 3200lbs- but it is difficult. the enzo, carrera gt, and sl-r are all over 3000lbs. and now you're trying to refine the hell out of the machine.

thats also not to say it cant perform. the brakes look more than adequate. and the engine, if its 525ish hp, should be adequate as well- you're looking at a car that should edge out the C6z06 with a ton of refinement, style, and exclusivity to go along with it. in todays market that car is easily worth $100k and lexus should have no problem selling it.
