Looks GREAT from the back, but what are those black panels by the lights? Are they functional airflow vents?

Highly doubt the GT-R will be over 500HP. About 450HP is the current word. Over 500 would be *really* pushing it with a twin turbo V6 VQ engine, which is almost confirmed to be in the GT-R.
As for the LF-A, there have been consistent rumours that Lexus is targeting a curb weight below 2900 lbs. The latest rumour was, to meet that target, Toyota had decided to go with an entirely carbon fiber body. We also don't know what materials will be used in the engine, and how light it will be.
Put this in your mind for a second: the LF-A concept is a bit shorter than an IS, and a bit wider. The production car will likely retain these measurements. Yes, a 911 Turbo weighs about the same as an IS350, but that's because it has AWD for one thing. It's complicated engine also weighs a lot.
Imagining the LF-A weigh less than 2900 lbs is kind of like imagining an IS350 weigh less than 2900 lbs. If the body was entirely carbon fiber, and lightweight components were used throughout the car, you think it wouldn't be possible?

Sport vs. Luxo personality
I made a list of likely cars that could be considered for comparison to the LF-A to see if I could draw any conclusions about where the LF-A would fit. It was an interesting exercise. This wasn't done to compare specific details but to see if we could glean anything about it's "personality".
You'll note from the list there are 5 cars that average about 3,300 lbs and two that are 800-1,000 lbs more. While most everything about the Lexus is speculation at this point, given the "F" designation and the many laps around Nurburgring it's probably a safe bet that it falls in with the Porsche/Ferrari/Lamboghini crowd. At least that's my hope, weight is the enemy of handling. While this is a departure from the typical Lexus image but perhaps the IS-F is leading the way.

Just hope the LF-A wont be over $170k. Hopefully some how it be more like $130k near the same price as the 997 Turbo.
One thing the LF-A pretty much will be in direct competition with the new Gallardo
Thing weighs less than 3000 pounds and has about 530 hp.
I'll be content with the LF-A weighing 3100-3300 pounds with a top speed of atleast 205-210 mph.
Which would make it a really good new car on the market.

One thing we shouldn't compare the LF-A to a 997 Turbo seeing its a 2+2, we should compare it to the soon to be new beast from Porsche the GT2. Actually I can see why Lexus would use the 997 Turbo it was out before the GT2 lol and what plus the Turbo what a benchmark pretty much.
True the 997 Turbo pretty much a small car slightly larger than a SC430 even though both are 2+2 you get no leg room pretty much.

Wow it's looking better and better...from virtually all angles. I still think the headlights need a bit of a tweak (not a fan of the catfish like details), and the bumper air intake area could be made less bulky looking.
