Yes, I know I am assuming it will be considering how high the stakes are for Lexus with this car, but I think that is a fair assumption.

Let's all keep on speculating!!! It's fun.

how can it be when it has V10 engine up front...? I am sure that V10 version will be nicely balanced, but hybrid should be better...

I don't see why it cannot be - we already know the radiators are at the back. For all we know the gearbox may also be at the back - already achieving the 50/50 balance needed.

Imagine adding the battery pack of the hybrid at the back too now - can you say 911 (rear weight bias)?

The LF-A concept has the V10 engine front mid-mounted right on top of the front suspension, plus the radiators and transmission are both in the rear. I think the regular LF-A will already have perfect weight distribution, so I'm not sure if a hybrid system would improve it.

radiators sure, gearbox has to be next to the engine, right? so sure, it can be towards the center, but V10 is quite heavy. 50:50 is not bad, but even more balance to the back is even better and will give you extra traction.

LOL.. The car is not even out yet.. Heck, Lexus may decide to scrap the v10 production model all together.. They are sure slow in bringing this car to market... M3's and the like are already on the boat.

No it doesn't. The Corvette has had a rear-mounted transmission since 1997. Driveline looks like:

Engine->driveshaft->transmission->differential.

I think the reason why they are being so slow about this is a reflection of their traditionally conservative culture.

My guess is that they are taking the time to make sure it is - a-no-compromises-pure-sports-car-perfection and hence the different versions to get the looks right and ofcourse all the testing on the ring to get the dynamics right. I think they want to hit the goal in the net right off the bat. Not in a second generation.

Making a pure sports car is not exactly their forte, hence the long development process. That's my story and I am sticking to it!

I hope they won't chicken out this time and offer only just one powertrain option. Both a 9000rpm V-10 and a uber V-8 hybrid will be signicant to the sportscar market. Do it, Lexus!

And I want the convertible version.

My wife likes hybrids so it would improve the WAF.

I was going through some old LF-A stuff and I remember this clip from the Tokyo Auto show. I can't help but wonder if the exhaust clips in the video are from the car itself, an F1 car, or somewhere else.

http://lexus.jp/ms/ then go to "Movie" and "LF-A".

Any guesses?
