I know there's talk about a hybrid version but I'm not sure about the transmission situation. If it has a CVT I think I'd miss the ability to control the shift up and down; even in an automatic it gives more fun. We'll see.

played out rumor. Same was said for the supra & mr-2 spyder turbo. People don't relate lexus-toyota in that way, and furthermore, they have no way of knowing when will be their first win.
The LF-A will be the pace car at this years Japanese GP at mt.fuji, it's debut will coincide with the release at the tokyo motor show,

Back to the fold......
In 1994 I sold my 300zx TT and purchased a brand new 1994 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. I had a ball with that car and eventually [as my finances improved ] I sold it to purchase my current car, the NSX. It is not the most powerful car I have ever driven, but it is most certainly the most entertaining. It handles very well, is fast enough, has exotic looks and is as reliable as any Honda.
Honda has let the NSX and its followers down by neglecting needed improvements that would have kept it competitive with the 911s and the others of the breed.
Amazingly enough, the makers of the Supra, Toyota, have what now appears to be a truly hardcore performance machine in the upcoming LF-A. I am hopeful that given the fact that the BMW M6 can be had for around $110k and the 911 T for under 130k, that Lexus/Toyota will not price their car beyond 150k, although I am hearing estimates as high as $200k.
I hope that Toyota does not make the same mistake that Honda made when pricing the NSX. They learned that at some price point, it is not the goodness of the product alone that is enough to justify the price. At some price level, the "name and pedigree" comes into play. At around $200k, most people would like to say that they own the Ferrari F430 Strad.
I hope that Lexus will do with the LF-A what they did with the LS when it came out in 1990/91. Price it at a decided price advantage over its direct competition and then as its goodness becomes well known and appreciated, to increase the price over the years.
