Well the LF-A I seemed pretty big to me when I saw it at the LA Auto Show.

As for the styling cues, I read something where a Lexus designer mentioned that he would "fight for" keeping the LF-A II styling cues on the actual model.

well the specs are online so i guess its subjective. just reflecting how I felt when I saw it in Tokyo.

i could see this thing being in the low 3k lbs range.. but dont honestly see it being 2,xxx. even if the entire body and chassis are composite.

BTW today's reports that lexus is shuffling engineers and that they only plan on building 26/mth is disappointing. 300/yr globally???

Which article mentions the engineer shuffle and production rate? Japanese newspapers?

were you ever expecting it to be a mass production car?

Never saw Lexus doing more than 500-1000 a year.

Nice read. We all knew they wanted over 205 mph, but 218 mph for a top speed

Guess we will see it in '09 as a '10 model bummer but gives us more time to save lol :d

porsche sells over a thousand 911TTs in the US alone
mercedes marked about that many (vs LFA) half million dollar SLRs for the US alone
i could go on

even if you didnt feel the above examples to be relevant/indicative to what lexus could do, i think its safe to say demand is easily well beyond this rumored figure

It seems to me that as time goes on Lexus just keeps pushing the target upwards, to a point that is simply unrealistic for Lexus's current brand position. I mean, even the Porsche GT2 has a top speed of only 204mph. Is Lexus going to beat the Carrera GT on their first try or what? I hope they can be more realistic and make a good GT3/Turbo beater first, or a production LF-A might never see the light of the day.

At least they have not told us they want to beat the Bugatti Veyron.

I would say it's reasonable to assume that at this time Lexus does not know how the world will accept paying around 150k for a Lexus. Sure you have people on forums saying yeah I'd be all over a 150k LF-A but all that can be just fanboi cheerleading. This is Toyota's first foray into the exotic market and I'm sure they want to start off slow... if demand increases so does production. It's the smart way forward I think.

Yeah, some have argued that the LS 600h L is a safer bet for commanding a price premium, specifically because it leverages the strength of the LS flagship as a showcase car.

I think it will be kind of weird to have the LF-A on sale with the SC 430 as the only other Lexus coupe. I think they should come out with a lineup of the IS, SC, and LF-A coupes to fortify the Lexus 2-door image.

And of course the IS-F and LF-A, as part of the F-Sport division, are testing the waters for Lexus performance products.
