30,000,000.00 JPY = 292,449.41 USD

Interesting data point but seems way too high.

You cannot directly compare the yen price and convert to a US price. It doesn't work like that.

As for the LF-A, there have been a lot of rumours circulating with 2009 as when the car goes on sale. Then again, there were rumours we would see a production LF-A at the Tokyo show last year but that didn't happen. Current rumours are saying the LF-A has been delayed to further improve it's aerodynamics in order for it to have a higher top speed than the Ferrari Enzo.

Hopefully we will get some sort of timeframe from Lexus in the next few months regarding when the production LF-A will finally go on sale.

It will definitely be more than that *IF* it's true that only 350 will be available outside Japan ...

I'm beginning to wonder if beating an Enzo is a worthwhile goal at all for a brand like Lexus. I guess it will be a halo vehicle but it certainly won't appeal to ANY of Lexus' current customers.

GT-R vspec lapped the ring in 7:25.

*mods if the title of this thread is lf-a lapped the ring, can you add the time it lapped it in the title too?*

That's the whole point, isn't it? For the LF-A to be a halo car that appeals to a completely different crowd of people than Lexus currently caters to. The LF-A is supposed to attract an entire new group of buyers to the Lexus brand.

The Lamborghini Gallardo sells for just 21,446,000 JPY and the Murcielago sells for 32,576,000 JPY, so I too very much doubt if the LF-A can command that much premium, although the very limited production number of 500 (and only 150 for JDM) does make the price somewhat more likely.

Just to clarify and re-state, the LF-A mule that set a 7:24 unofficial time on the 'Ring looked like this. We can see it had fake/temporary tail-lights, and the the body panels were all temporary which definitely affected it's speed and aerodynamics.

Of course we don't know if the LF-A mule's weight was the same as what the production LF-A will weigh, or what sort of tires the mule used. Equally, it's possible the production LF-A could run potentially even faster than 7:24 since the production car's body will have better aerodynamics than the mule and it's temporary body panels.

Just a few things to think about when comparing the LF-A to the production GT-R or the Spec-V GT-R mule most recently spotted at the 'Ring.

Fair enough.

My point is, the production LF-A's full performance capability is still very much a mystery, considering the mule that got the unofficial time had temporary bodywork.
