Maybe he was trying to get someone to stop or turn so he could get a better pic?

Interesting vid!

No, thats the track version, it doesn't have ceramic brakes. From the pics they see like Brembo mono-block calipers and metallic rotors, not ceramic rotors. The noise would be from metallic race compound pads I assume....they are very noisy.

From the spyshots of the "track ready" version it looks like they're carbon ceramic. I enlarged the photo and they don't look like regular brakes. Was there a press release saying they weren't going to use carbon ceramic brakes on the track version?

Here's a brief blurb from the UK press release, which clarifies the nature of the racing LF-A:

http://www.easier.com/view/News/Moto...le-175331.html

Lexus LF-A concept to participate in Nürburgring 24 Hour Race
22 April 2008

The Lexus LF-A concept car will participate in the Nürburgring 24 Hour Race on 24–25 May 2008 as part of ongoing development.

Testing the vehicle on the famous Nürburgring circuit for 24 hours under gruelling race conditions will provide Lexus engineers with a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge that can be used to further the vehicle’s overall development.

The vehicle is not a dedicated race car and will only be equipped with the safety equipment (roll cage, fuel tank, etc.) necessary to meet racing regulations.

A team of experienced Japanese drivers will have the aim of providing feedback to the Lexus development team rather than achieving a race result.

For race support, Lexus will assign a team of young mechanics as part of the company’s commitment to the development of personal and technical skills.

The LF-A concept is powered by a high-revving, 500+ bhp V10 engine. Its front mid-engine placement, along with a rear mounted transmission and rear mounted radiators, allows for excellent weight distribution and agile handling. The horsepower and refined aerodynamics make a top speed of 200 mph not only possible, but probable.

The LF-A concept was originally shown in 2005 to express a bold new direction in styling for the Lexus brand. The goals for the current LF-A are no different than they were with the original concept; to build a supercar with world class performance that is uniquely Lexus.
The last two paragraphs are pretty much the same as the LF-A II presser. However it's interesting to note that the modifications made for the racing LF-A are not as extensive as might have been. This may be of benefit from the perspective of refining the production model, given that extra racing enhancements could generate differing results.

The brakes appear to be non ceramic to me. Ceramic brakes are usually darker, the ones the race prep has on have a more metallic look. the looked like grooved metallic rotors

i can venture a guess. they didnt want people spying on the car.

One thing if the normal version does it in 7mins 24 secs, the race one must be able to do it in like 7mins or something.

That was my first reaction too, but how does the cameraman know the name of the driver (Ronny Küng) and the speed the car was traveling at (250km/h) if he was not somehow part of the team? (According to the description on YouTube at least.)

Yeah, though it's said that Lexus only did enough mods to meet the requirements of the race and not making it as extreme as they possibly can, so the improvement in lap times may not be too drastic.

I agree that they're usually darker but they're a lot more dull colored. Regular rotors are shiny but these are a very dull color even if they aren't as dark as they normally are.
