Official LF-A(II) thread (Will debut at Tokyo Auto Show, Lexus details Oct 20th, 8pm)

I think Lexus is taking way too much of a gamble on pricing it that high. It's almost 100k over the the model below it. It's competing against cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin. As much as I love Lexus and Toyota, I think they'll have a lot of problems with prestige and image at that price.
When Lexus started in 1989, they had a product that was similar to the Europeans (German brands in general), but priced significantly less.
Now that they have a new product that is similar to the Europeans (Italian brands in general), they should be priced significantly less too.
I can understand that Lexus wants to be competitive technologically and performance-wise, but the brand image is far too inexperienced to price it that high...

the price is too high. they should have tried to slot it in the 125-150 range. for 200+, lexus does not come to mind. I'm thinking lambo, ferrari, bentley, RR etc. not lexus. should be a great car, maybe even worth the money, but not enough cache yet with the nameplate.
Performance wise, i think it will fly with the best of them. but again, at 200+, its not just the numbers and which is faster. people who spend that much are gonna want prestige and status. I'm a lexus fanatic at heart, but even I don't think Lexus is at a point where it can fly with the above marques... IMHO anyway.

I wont doubt that it'll have performance
However at that price, I would have picked up an F430 instead. To a lot of people, getting to own a "Ferrari" is just something you have to experience, even if there are cars that are faster.

No, I don't think anyone is challenging the numbers the car reportedly puts down. BUT, at $200k+ it's a lot more than just numbers. Lexus doesn't carry the same mystique as the big names that play in that category (Ferrari, Lambo, Bentley, RR). None of those companies have cars that sell below $150k to begin with. MB and Bimmer don't even compete up in that stratosphere. MB resurrected another marque to compete in that league and it's not doing that well. I'm just saying it takes a lot more than awesome numbers to compete in that price range. Personally, I love Lexus, but for $200k, I'm not ponying up for a Lexus. With that much coin, I'm getting a Bentley or a Ferrari, even if the number don't measure up.

It's tough to judge if the price is right until we see some specs; how much carbon fiber, aluminum chassis?, formost - what is the weight, etc. The price may be right on for what's being delivered. Unfortunately, thier ADAC 24hr Nurburgring entry doesn't list weight.
Their unveiling approach is more like a small company than a large one. Go racing first, then unveil the production version.

I like Lexus alot but that price is Steep! They havent had many performance cars as of late and for them to just come into the market with a car that cost over 200K is crazy to me. But this just speculation until I see a official press release, im hoping the price comes down.

Air intakes are behind the doors, on the shoulder (by the window) and the floor (by the sideskirt).
