That camo makes it look like a Mitsubishi 3000 GT.
I really am disappointing with the way this is turning out so far

hmmmm
1) That's the way the camo over the lights make it appear. IMHO, that is the ONLY point of resemblance between the two. However;
2) the 3000GT was one of 3 Japanese "Ferrari clones" (along with the NSX and MR-2 MKII) from back in the day.
3) Ferrari does not make cars as beautiful today as they did back then
So I don't see how if you were right, that it could be a bad thing.

I never thought the 3000GT really resembled a Ferrari like the MR2 and NSX did as it did not have mid engined proportions or a sleek lower wedge shape and it looked nothing like any front engined Ferrari. It may have had a slight resemblance to a Ferrari 456 but the 3000GT proceeded it in 1990 where the 456 first came out in 1992 so the 3000GT could not have took ques from the 456. The 3000GT just had that larger brutish aggressive performance GT look like the 300ZX, Skyline GTR, and Supra turbo had, I found it more like a Porsche 928, 944, or Corvette.
The new Ferrari 458 Italia is certainly a beautiful design to me and has the sleek sexy well proportioned looks like the 355 had.

While I think this car is certainly striking (As it absolutely SHOULD be for the level it will occupy) I think some of the lukewarm reactions are probably due to the feeling that it doesn't push the supercar design envelope in any way. It has the same basic look of a dozen other cars in this league (and that's OK with me) but it certainly has no individual wow factor which sets it apart form those cars. It's fantastic for a Lexus. That "for a Lexus" qualifier is no small thing for it makes the car's looks a relative thing to other exotic makers who have been designing fabulous looking cars since the beginning of time.
Now, it does successfully bring almost everything great about the concept to production but the concept itself is a 5 year old design now. I think 3 things make this car special. 1) it's a Lexus, 2) it will be very limited production, 3) the performance potential is formidable. But in terms of styling it is nothing new.

They said the first 2 would sureley get a car within the first 3 months of launch. The sales guy said the GM has imposed a markup of about $75K. I said to him " I thought lexus does not do markups and that the company strongly discourages and does not motivate these kind of activities from its dealer network.
His estimate was about $500,000 for a customer purchase price with a $425-$450K MSRP.

I do personally know bit so call me biased but I find he has a fine eye for design and we agree a lot on it. He nearly single handedly influenced my GS mods. His GS was very tasteful, here is a pic before he sold it. Clean, tasteful, subtle and HREs ftw! I've had the pleasure of visiting both his homes and the design is fantastic, especially the one in FL he had a huge hand in.
I'm with him, I don't see 3000GT and that is a car I like and see monthly at meets.
