I figured it was just another prototype undergoing transmission tests. I didn't think it was a hybrid or anything like that. People wanted to believe it was, that the flaps covered something like a plug.

another tidbit that i never noticed from previous footage of this specific car was the roof was unpainted carbon fiber. i wish i could have asked the guy to rev it for me but i was already looking like a strange stalker and i was running really late. i'm sure they see this and hope they keep coming back to the spot so i won't say where it was.

So i wonder what they are using this prototype for? Maybe gearbox testing? It doesn't look like it's going racing so maybe they are testing the automatic setting of the box around town? That was my theory and some other website i read said something along the same lines.

i really wish i asked some good questions or at least ask to rev the engine or something but i had to go. i didn't even check the pictures that i took until later. there were some large rectangular aluminum looking vents/ducting coming out the hood but it doesn't show in the pic. probably a prefabbed version of the production vent. i honestly think they're just testing the car around town and stuff. when i was walking up to the car, the driver was writing notes on his clipboard. all 3 cars in the pic were together. all 3 drivers were very nice and i didn't want to intrude much. all i can say is it was awesome and if i am lucky enough to see it again, i'll be better prepared.
