There is no official 'Ring time for the LFA yet. As usual, media outlets are talking things out of proportion. That 'Ring time was achieved by one of the Toyota test drivers while the track had some traffic.

For what it's worth, Akira claims a best lap of 7:30, but reckons the LFA is capable of 7:23 given a clear track. Naturally enough, this would make it a few seconds quicker than a Nissan GT-R."
So unlike Nissan, Lexus didn't spend the money to rent the entire 'Ring for a clean run (or in the case of the Nissan, MANY clean runs). Hopefully a worthy 3rd party will do just that later to help validate the 7:23 claim. Or Lexus themselves should.

Here are some more tidbits:
- Chief engineer Tanahashi told his team not to focus on lap times during 'Ring testing and development, but instead to focus on handling, stability, and driving pleasure/enjoyment.
- the drivetrain torque tube and the exhaust are vertically stacked in the center tunnel to reduce the tunnel's width
- this allows the seats to be closer together, and closer to the car's longitudinal center line to minimize the effect the occupants have on the car's dynamics
- this also allows for near-perfect pedal placement for the driver

Hard to say for sure, but it seems when the car is set in "Sport" mode, the engine supposedly can rev to over 9000 RPM. In other words, you can think of 9500 RPM as the "true" redline of the engine.

The GT-R amd R8 is where the Lexus LFA will always be compared to IMO. Performance wise the LFA is right there in between the GT-R and R8, but cost wise it is 3-4 times the price. I think one has to not judge the car by price but instead look at it performance. Time will tell how good the LFA is on the skidpad but I believe the GT-R will still be it.
When you look at the Ferrari 599 (Road and Track)...3.2 seconds 0-60mph with the use of launch control....why doesn't the LFA have this?...the only car I know of from a major manufacturer that comes close to this is the GT-R
For $375k I can't go faster than a Ferrari or even a Nissan for that matter?.....I still think the LFA is cool and I do like it

ok man, just go buy a GTR.
The GTR and the LFA represent 2 totally different things. Do you agree? If you agree, the discussion between LFA and GTR is over unless you're going to actually compare them together in a performance test, just for the sake of it.
I don't want to be mean or anything but hearing the same thing page after page after page gets tiring, we got the point.
