Here are some hard facts about the steering wheel:
STEERING
1. A hollow, carbon-fiber reinforced composite steering wheel is used for a lightweight,
rigid design.
A. The sides of the steering wheel are bound with leather and feature contoured sections for
enhanced grip.
B. Small-diameter (360 mm) enhances grip
C. Bottom of the steering wheel has been flattened –
I. to reduce moment of inertia.
II. and provide higher roational center, closer to steering wheel’s CG.
D. The center of the steering wheel is offset 10 mm above the center of the column shaft to ensure
visibility of the combination meter.
I. Places center of gravity closer to the center of rotation.
II. Nearly eliminates any unbalanced sensation when turning the wheel as well as minimizes.
the influence that lateral and vertical Gs have on steering inputs.
E. Key control functions are placed on the steering wheel and column.
I. Engine Start switch.
II. Engine Start indicator light.
III. Meter information selector switch.
IV. Transmission shift paddles.

The directional key on the left is the "Meter Information Selection Switch". It helps you select menu functions the main cluster including vehicle stats and a stop watch feature.

Here is a short video I took of the LFA speedometer at the Tokyo Motor Show. I have a lot more pics that I will upload in a few days.
In person the cluster display looks amazing! Also the LFA has a real presence when seen up close.

Wow, awesome! It's amazing how fast the engine can rev! That picture also proves the 9000 RPM is a "soft" redline, that the car allows you to rev above 9000 RPM. Since fuel cut-off is at 9500 RPM, that is the actual "true" redline.

Exactly. This project had no time or budget restrictions, which is a luxury that most of Toyota's competitors cannot afford.
