Most exotic owners I know look at price/performance/brand image (looks included) and that's about it. This is why Ferrari still sells in its market segment over Corvette. Same with Lamborghini and other brands. If the LFA excites you, great! I'm still waiting for the posts where people are in love with it AND have plunked their money down to buy one. At the end of the day, that's the real proof of market value. People can come here and defend it or bash it all day, but in the end, I want to see the actual sales in our market. By now 25+ US buyers should be notified and so far, I've not seen anyone doing the Snoopy dance on any forum that they have been chosen by Lexus. Meanwhile, the F458 line is so long two dealers I know are telling customers that production is already sold out three years.
How about Alfa Romero 8C Competizione being sold out at $230k, its performance at its price is not better than competition, and its brand is defiantly not that of Ferrari

The Alfa 8C is a curious example.

It sold out new at prices that more like in the $300+ zone.

In the US Fiat did not even have Alfa dealers so they did an informal thing through the Ferarri/Maserati network.

I think they did 500 coupes and then another 500 of the spiders in a second wave.

It is considered to be about the best looking machine created in the past 10-20 years.

It has tepid performance and under its skin is little more than a badge engineered Maserati Gran Sport/Ferrari Califormia without the direct injection and dual clutch tranny and in the case of the the spider it is missing the hard top.

The 8C seems to have dropped like a stone in the resale world (to Tommy's point). After you mentioned the vehicle I saw one on Ebay with 900 miles with a buy it now tag of $239K. I believe a year ago folks were looking for $340K (Ferrari 599 money).

Yup, excellent example. In that case, it didn't help that the magazines hammered it after it was already sold out. The LFA will won't have the problem, but it is coming out in a down market while the C8 was mostly sold out in 08, when the market was still up. That is a curious car because it wasn't that great looking, didn't have the best numbers, build reputation, etc., yet it sold out at a premium. The fake carbon fiber was a huge turnoff to me.

And that has what exactly to do with my statement?

Loaded at $300k. How much with the early bird markup? I could completely fathom paying an extra $75k for something which I completely admire.

Its funny how that fact falls flat on people.

Its construction for instance cannot be compared to anything short of an Enzo or Zonda. That is a fact.

Since reading is too much for people, Chris Harris explains it well.

This about sums it up.

This thread has completely gone down the toilet. Haters will always hate.

I just recieved my allocation by phone.

Letters to the 170 US buyers go out next week.

The final break out added more cars to the US than the original plan (150) due to things being slow in the EU.

3 will be in Chicagoland (including one in N Indiana).

My contact confirmed that the 1100 worldwide number (seen in a few posts) for the list of interested persons/qualified is correct.

Over 400 on the list are from the US.
