I definitely want to chase down the spyder question.
Today I put in my first $10K deposit at the dealership with the credit application stuff.
I now have two product specialists to speak with at Lexus. The second one is coordinating the track event here in May. He let me know today that they will be back in touch to set up the specification appointment soon.

I spoke with one of my product specialists today and have the following updates.
No spyder. The chief engineer considered driveability and weight issues and rejected this version.
No hybrid. Too much of a weight increase.
Other FYI. The LFA has a conventional battery as the Li based ones are not considered ready for prime time.

I was told today by my Lexus dealer that I can purchase one LFA from the 10 unit allocated for Canada. One thing that does not sound 100% right to me was a $13000 "special" freight charge. Has any one heard of it? I wonder if they are planning to bring the car by airplane or something like that.

There was a hub-bub about how Paul McCartney's LS 600h L was delivered by airplane, and that's a less expensive (lol) model than the LFA...
There is also some general LFA purchase (and other) discussion here:

I believe the dealer is just passing along the info from Lexus Canada. So, I just wanted to see if any other LFA North American buyer is getting this Special freight charge.

Congratulations on the news!
I have 3 contacts at Lexus, the person who put together the allocation plan (I believe worldwide) and two local product specialists. I also have a local dealership contact. No one has mentioned a special delivery charge. It was not mentioned in the allocation letter I received.
$13K Canadian does not seem out of bounds if we are talking about air freight if this is true. It just does not make sense based on what I have seen.
I would still call Lexus directly to see what is up.
Also, what is the price of the car in Canadian dollars?
