Thanks for the pricing info.

Did they convert the options price list into Canadian dollars for you as well?

Also, do you have a sales tax to pay?

In Chicago that is 8.5%.

If so, your pricing is about $95,000 more than mine (the currencies are on par with each other at the moment).

If not, your pricing is about $73,000 more than mine.

i received information from a friend who is in the exotic market, and he said the 13k sounds about right for air freight. that's about how much he paid to have his exotic shipped from europe (using 747). he thinks that's how the lfa will be shipped over. US might be a bit less, but more or less the same.

i guess what you want to do is just to make sure with lexus corp that if the price is an add-on or inclusion already (since some others haven't heard about it)

We have not gotten to the option list just yet. All I wanted to know was the total cost of the base car. Normally, I would not have been too concern with the amount, but I am about to plunk a lot of cash into some Florida properties. (By the way I noticed that you're into realestate in Chicago, I would be interested in hearing your opinion on Fl properties, perhaps in a PM). So I have to make sure that I won't get caught in a cash flow problem...
Onto the price calculation:
MSRP+freight+gas taxes (8K)+Sales taxes (13%) = CAD 471K

So your LFA's OTD cost is about USD 370K?

doubt that. price of the car is 375k, and tax should be on top??

Yes, it does sound reasonable for airfreight and special handling of exotic cargo. The only reason this came up because I pressed for the final cost of my allocation.

I think so too, unless we have some incorrect info on US MSRP.

With sales tax it is about $407K so it looks like you are $66K higher in Canada.

My RE is in Boston, a very solid market for leasing.

I would be way careful about FL. When I was in Miami in January my driver told me about how toasted he got on a preconst. condo deal. He rented it and had a low quality tenant that could not pay. He now has no tenant and has been covering the payment for about a year and is strugggling to get out using a short sale. He has two mortgages and the second lender has little to no chance of getting anything if they let the deal close.

Summary points being;

There is little clarity regarding when the FL market will bottom out.
Finding tenants is tough (as the economy is not creating jobs to produce tenants).

Yep, we have an additional 6% import tax for cars made outside NA and some outdated exchange rate that made up for the price differences.
Thanks for the heads up on FL condos. I am buying them at foreclosed prices. My time line for these investment is 5 years or more and I am not counting on rental revenue if that made any senses.
I am getting more and more excited about getting my own LFA. Have you decided on color. I was told this will affect your delivery time. I wanted late 2012 delivery so that Lexus has enough time to work out production bugs.
I was on the configurator last night playing with external color. I like White, dark red and yellow. My 4 years old girl picked dark red and nothing else.
Can you check with you contacts to see what kind of delivery charge for US LFA's?

I am going with whitest white for the exterior.

The Miami colors will be built later. Not much detail beyond that.

I will check in about the shipping charge.

I am either doing a red seat and lower dash in alcantara and everthing else black (not extra charge for this config) or a blue seat and carpet with tan lower dash, wheel and seat back.

Next item: Do you currently own/have owned other exotics? I have not and some of use here are trying to get a sense if the LFA will bring customers into the category.

No, I do not own any exotic, or any real expensive cars for that matter. The IS is the most expensive car I have owned todate. Actually, I recently gave the IS to my wife, and I am driving a 2010 Vibe with 5sp. Before that I had a "previously enjoyed" 01 GS430. The thought of buying Lambo/Ferrari never crossed my mind before, but for some reason I just fell in love with the LFA the moment I saw the picture/video. So, I believe I am not the type of customers Lexus was aiming for.
Initially, when I first signed up for the car, I was thinking about flipping it after the 2 yrs lease, but I think I've changed my mind on that one now that I will actually get one.
Now, how did I ended up with my allocation? I put in my application for the LFA in via one of the biggest Lexus dealer in Canada. According to my sales person, it was the only one receive by them (?). So they complained very loudly to Lexus Canada after I/they did not get selected in the first round back in March. Then when one became available this week, guess who got the call.

Thanks for your update.

I wonder how close we are genetically as the only other car we have is an 09 Vibe AWD I bought our older son this past summer (killer deals as GM was dumping the brand).

No more stick cars for us as I live in the city and the kids have not interest in learning. Can you believe a kid not wanting to drive an S2000?

It was interesting to read that your dealer was able to influence allocations as you mentioned. My local dealer had to say sorry to 5 big deal customers. I never bought a car from this dealership and the GM was like how the he?? did this guy get a unit?

I am not sure if you are new to this forum. Your input has been very useful toward solving a puzzle question from another member Tommy James. He has pointed out that the LFA is crazy expensive and is coming into a suffering exotic market. With Lexus having no history playing in this space, he has pointed out that the folks he connects have little to no interest in the LFA and begs the question, will there be a market?

What I keep saying is, there are plenty of Lexus customers who the coin. They want a bullet proof toy that is not embarrassing to show up in, can be serviced by someone they know and trust and be from a company they know will back the thing.

Your story has similarities to mine in that the IS350 has been the priciest ride I have had to date. I have had some fun cars, CRX, 850R wagon, S2000 but nothing high roller. I expect to meet a couple of other local buyers at a track event I was invited to in May.

We are all looking forward to seeing the allocation map. So far we have 165 in Japan (thanks to Dave for the correct number), 170 in the US, 10 in Canada, 2 in Singapore, 2 in Thailand (thanks Dave) and 1 in the DR.

The wild card for me will be the Middle East. My understanding is, 54 markets will get cars.

In the US there were 20 regions to get them. CA, FL and NY being the bigs. Chicago (2 in IL), Atlanta, Denver and Boston plus a northern Indiana were mentioned to me. The event I went to in Miami had folks from TX and AL so I believe we will see something there. Some one in Dallas must be getting one.

The long term mystery is will we have something that collectors will pay blood money to bring to their garages in a few years or will be get clanked on the head with depreciation. I am hoping for the former and am willing to risk some of the latter to have the LFA ownership experience.

Thanks Dave,

I edited my post to include the correction you kindly provided for allocations in Japan and added the Thai information from encore 888.
