Japan's cut off date forwarded due to demand.
The LFA cut off date was originally planned for around march but has been moved forward to January the 13th, due to the number of people that have put their names on waiting lists.
My dealer has 5 people who have their names on the waiting list and they will be doing a draw at a time to yet be announced. I am hopping that no one else puts their name down, but I guess it is all up luck at this stage as to who will get one.
Anyway, that is all the news I have ATM.

I remember you citing the same number of people on your dealer's waiting list before the official launch. Sounds like the seemingly high price tag hasn't deterred anyone.
So it comes down to pure luck of draw? I thought Lexus was gonna hand pick the LFA's buyers according to earlier reports. Is it no longer the case?
At any rate good luck!

I am trying not to think about it.

Thanks for the update Dave.
You mentioned 5 folks at your dealer.
Can you remind me on the process in Japan for ordering relative to the US?
I called on the first day to be on the list and as mentioned in my thread about the window washer filler, I was contacted by Lexus to begin a dialog.
Have you received a similar contact?

I have quite a good relationship with my dealer and they have always looked after me.
So your in the market for a LFA?

Hi Dave
thanks for the clarification
yes, I am hoping to get one
it is funny that in Japan they left the customer selection at the dealer level
with all the funny business expected in the US regarding dealers
I was happy to see the processes centralized
prior to the recent info release I had a rolling dialog with my previous dealer
in NJ
I had been hoping for a convertible version but based on the limited storage space in the LFA that could not be produced
I have asked about factory visits and driver training and Lexus
is evaluating how to do those things
they also expect to create a piece of luggage that fits the
hatch well

oh wow good luck Dave!
i only know about the ordering process based on what i read on here, but is it me or does it seem like in the US at least, if you are qualified to be selected, then you should be able to get one and not have to rely on luck, whereas in Japan, it seems even if you're qualified, you still have to have luck on your side due to the high demand? If that's true, sucks for those in Japan

Well the 13th has come and gone and all those who have put their names down will have to wait another few months to see how the cars will be allocated. Demand has exceeded all expectations and there are on average 3-4 people on the want list for the 165 lexus dealers here.(Don't quote me on this , I am just going on what my dealer said) It looks like each dealer will be doing a draw and the final numbers on the waiting list at my dealer is 5 people. I was never good a drawing straws, but will see how this goes...

Good Luck Dave,
I did not realize that your drawing was months away.
The news will come here next month.
I am generally encouraged about my prospects for an allocation.
My contact person at Lexus upgraded my invitation from the indoor event in Chicago to the racetrack event in Miami including a ride with Scott Pruett (a ride, not a chance of a ride).
My contact also gave me a call to discuss the event (we had previously been emailing to discuss my questions). I also brought up allocations and from that informal discussion I came away with a very positive outlook regarding receiving an allocation.

Thanks guys.
The selection process here seems to be a lot different to you guys there, but I feel this is the fairest way to allocate them. As for the time frame, no one knows when the drawing will be yet, b/c they have a lot of things to sort out I guess.
Good to hear you are getting some time in the car. Lexus has canned the idea of letting people ride in the car. I guess the demand was so good they did not need incentives I suppose. I am still hearing news about getting track lessons if you are one of the lucky ones to get one.
