Yea, I would have loved to check out the LS Sport. Maybe the next Lexus event.
Took me a bit to get what you meant by Amber Lamps! cracking up!
According to other threads, the Cali event happened in November.
Thanks! I would have enjoyed it more if was qualified to own one!
No I have not. I can't give a direct comparison to one yet, but those who have access to one can find me in Philly.
Yea the surface was entirely smooth. The autocross course was in a paved parking lot and of course the LFA was on a race track. No clue how the cars handle bumps though I did wonder the same a couple times throughout the day. But IMO, the IS F and IS350 F-sport did not exhibit a lot of nose dive under braking or rear end squat under hard acceleration. Body lean through the corners was very controlled. Of course this could lead to a stiffer ride out on the streets, but for the environment that we were in, they drove very nice.
I believe the IS F models that we got to drive was a 2010 (blue) and a 2009 (red). And now that I think about it, the 2010 models are suppose to have a mechanical LSD. I drove the blue one 2 times and the last time I drove the red one. Im not sure if I was suppose to feel a difference around a tight autocross track going at slower speeds, but I do recall going a little faster through one of the turns in the blue model. But then again, it could have been the angle or line I took in and out of the turns which resulted in a quicker speed.
Anyway, would love to see you attend one of these events, if and when they have something in your area!
OMG, even if I get to sit in the LFA, I would need the amber lamp BEFORE getting on the track

Have you driven...or ridden.....in a Nissan Skyline/GT-R yet? I just wonder how that feels in comparison.
I take it you were on a smooth surface most, if not all of the time. Did you get to try the IS-F on bumpy surfaces? I'm sure you remember, from my review, my previous commments on how stiff the suspension is. Maybe (?) Lexus has eased up on the damping and spring rates a little since then (that was 2 years ago)...I heard some talk about that being a possibility.

i like the LS in general quite a lot, but this package is a fail in so many ways. tacked on trim is crap, wheel design and fitment (esp. for a 'sport' package) are crap, and matte wood finish isn't attractive.
i have no idea what lexus was thinking!
now the lfa on the other hand... pure freaking genius.

I think it looks good, maybe silver is for mercedes, but seeing it in another color, like black for instance, it looks great. It's not tricked out or anything, but remember, this is an LS. Not a street tuner. If it were an LS-F it'd be weak, but this is a sport version. According to magazine tests so far it looks and feels like it's a good package.
