I don't think they matched their record lap time from last year but they were close with 8:50's. Point is they weren't too far off the leading cars lap times and were VERY consistent. Besides in and out laps, they were always between 9:00 and 8:50.

Top in class finish, and 19th overall for one of the LFAs, awesome job!
Huge improvement over the previous years results-wise. All of the cars that finished ahead of the #50 LFA in the race were completely custom-built race cars, and considering the LFA was a close-to-production car, I think that is an incredible result
.
While neither of the LFAs in the race beat last year's best race lap from an LFA, the LFAs in this race were much more consistent in terms of pace.
Absolutely amazing that they did an entire engine/front end change for the #51 LFA, and were able to get it back out on the track!
Awesome result for the ISF as well. The ISF and the #50 LFA both finished well ahead of the Audi R8 competing in the same close-to-production class
.
With all the data Lexus has been getting on the LFAs and ISF in race conditions, the next-gen ISF and other future F vehicles are going to be wonderful machines.
It's amazing that the LFAs in the race this year were still not the full production cars, but pre-production machines. We won't see final production LFAs racing until next year at the earliest. It's amazing that they are still refining the LFA for production.
I heard that they are considering adding an additional rear stabilizer bar for the production LFA to make it stiffer, based on what what they learned from the race this year.

Video of the last pit-stop for the #50 LFA. At the end you can see Akio Toyoda himself shaking hands with the crew. Even though he didn't race this year, Toyoda was there in the garage with the Gazoo Racing crew.

It's definitely worth all the effort now that the SP8 class victory trophies are on their records, a fitting accomplishment for the hard working Gazoo Racing, Team LFA, and the supercars.

I think it's amazing to see all the interest the LFA garnered when it was there. From that one video you can see all the crew being congratulated for a good job by the PRESIDENT of Toyota, Akio Toyoda himself. That's gotta be a big deal. This car was apart of his idea too. Glad to see it run so well. Also the amount of other people that were there not just the crew but people in Lexus Shirts and Jackets. Maybe there is more interest in this car to run it in other Racing events? I hope so. I hope it goes on to race in other series. Maybe GT1. The only thing is the rules of GT1 racing states the engine must be 5 liters or above. The LFA at 4.8 is pretty close. Maybe we'll see it in LeMans next year and I definitely expect it to be back at the 24Hours of Nurburgring once again in 2011.
The information about the stabilizer bar is news to me. I remembered last year they said they would add new components to the production LFA because of the information gathered from the 24Hour race in 09. But more updates to the production LFA is definitely news worth hearing.

Great 720p in-car video of Lammertink Racing's GT3 Cup going up against the #50 LFA at the Nürburgring 24hr:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJOE3Oot_qQ
Lots of good LFA footage from the beginning of the video up until the GT3 passes it at around 2:06, then the LFA gets the GT3 back aat 10:04ish at the end of the GP straightaway. Too bad there is no rear view camera, otherwise we'd have a full lap of LFA goodness.

A few other tidbits.
Not sure if this was for European customers only, but several "VIP" guests were allowed into Gazoo's garage to watch the pit crew work on the LFA, and just to see the cars in-person and how they perform. Several of these VIP guests were LFA buyers.
Also, the LFA's Chief Engineer was apparently there in the garage over the race weekend.

I figured some of those people were LFA buyers! During some of the video you can clearly see people who aren't apart of the 'team' in the LFA's garage areas. I thought to myself those people might be LFA buyers and I think I might have posted back a page or so ago about those people.

I didn't know about this...the #50 LFA took the SP8 class victory, while it's been reported that the #51 LFA had engine contaminant issues. Also seems it was in a collision!

This a testament to the quality and total performance of the LFA. Great job Lexus. They really know how to knock it out of the ball park on their first shot. The LFA reminds me of the LS back in the day. It came out of no where and won a lot of awards, received accolades from many journalists, and seems to need to time to set records.

If they can lower the weight by another 200 lbs and fix some minor reliability problems they might even go for the overall win next year! Would love to see them enter the 2011 24H with 3-4 cars and make Audi, BMW and Porsche sweat!

The fact that they were amongst the fastest in the wet is another good sign. I don't think it detracts anything from it's top gear lap though, which was set in the wet. I still think 4-5 seconds could be found on a dry top gear track with the LFA. If that's the case it could be in the top 5 overall. That's quite some performance!
