I think it looks better without the ugly jagged vent on the side.

Look at the McLaren F1. It was functional and was still one of the best looking super-cars of all time.

The Nurburgring Race LFAs looked much better without the vent.

That was sexy. The production car is fugly.
The McLaren is an awesome car, but it is boring as hell to look at imo. You are of course entitled to yours, but I guess you can't make someone learn good taste huh? The LFA is stunning.

Nice, I hadn't see that one before. Next we'll see an IS-F slaloming through champagne glasses on an AutoX

I wonder if there is a meaning behind it? .
pretty sure its a not so subtle connection to their champagne drinking target market. of course id rather them see stack a bunch of 40's and break that instead.

may take away from the lexus image though.

pretty cool, but the noise was amplified by the microphone. Not as impressive as you guys think though. I dont think many people have ever been next to a car on the dyno. It gets pretty damn loud let alone to have it amplified. Slick none the less. Thanks for sharing

LEXUS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I guess you've never been behind a car and noticed that exhaust gas comes out the back of cars? And a lot more of it at high speed / RPM?

Without the microphone this contrived setup clearly wouldn't have worked without simply blowing the glass over with exhaust before it got to the right RPM. If you read the supporting links the glass was shattered by the specific sound frequency.

Certainly if you've been near a dyno you know a high performance car strapped down at full speed is loud enough to do something like this without being "amplified by the microphone" . It's the specific glass they selected that resonates at the right frequency that is the trick here.

Saw a couple of billboards this morning. Pretty cool, but wish it made more of a statement.

Apparently not.

I can't believe you said the McLaren F1 is boring to look at. lol

It's all good though. If I had oil tycoon money, I'd buy one just for the noise. I wouldn't be able to see the vent/scoop when I'm driving it.

Sir the McLaren was over 1 million dollars in 1995 money, more than 3 times the price of the LFA. It also is considered one of (if not) the greatest road car ever built. Apples to Oranges. The McLaren is one of my favorite cars, if not favorite car ever.

Can we focus on the LFA, in one thread, just for once, without talking about other cars?

This is a discussion forum about cars. Most discussions about cars end up talking about and comparing different cars. I don't really see a problem with that.

Anyway, my only point to bringing up the McLaren was that you can make a car extremely functional without adversely effecting it's looks.
