Default Should the next SC be a mini LFA?

Well we discussed the possible 4 door coupe SC. How about a mini LFA SC? As in one that costs much less but it clearly a sports car and not a GT. It no longer is a hardtop convertible.

Would you like to see the SC go this direction? Or should the SC remain a sporty GT?

Should the mini LFA be an all new model?

What are your thoughts?

I'd love to see the SC go performance but I also wouldn't mind it staying as a GT with similar luxury balance as the last gen. If it went performance, I'd seriously consider one as my next daily driver. Either way, I'd like to see at least a coupe version offered.

given the name and history, i would prefer the sc to stay gt and just come out with another car that's in the sportier segment say for half the price of lfa. this is a good way to expand the lineup, rather than making things confusing

Mini LFA looks. GT performance.

Keep it luxury > performance.

Make it more like a Jag XK and less like a M-B SL. Add an F version.

I would love the next SC to remain a hard top convertible, but more emphasis on sports ala Mercedes SL.
I think Lexus should introduce a seperate new 2 door,2-seater sports car model though, starting @ not to0 much more than US$100k, and topping out @ no more than US$150K ...

No use for 4-door coupe for Lexus.
Fixed top 2-door-4-seater coupes also have limited appeal (look at sales of 6-series coupe vs. 6-series convertible, plus small sales volume of Mercedes CL-class), so I don't think Lexus should make one(my guess is, they probably not interested anyway)

One thing I have often thought about with this type of car is what they would call it.

SC = Sports Coupe, if I am not mistaken. I don't really see another letter that could be used with "C" that would 1) be relevant and 2) sound good.

HC = halo coupe? Sounds bad

PC = performance coupe? Sounds bad



I'd like to see them create an ISc (coupe), GSc (coupe, convert), move the SC up to something like the $90K mark and position it as a sporty GT, and then create a $150Kish sports car that slots between the SC and the LFA.

I still think these two are some of the better renderings of the "new SC" and wouldn't mind them doing something similar





P.S. - just found this rendering of the GSF...too bad this car will never exist.

no hope on gsf? that's sad

with that said, andrew hit a good point. i want the sc to continue stay in gt, but give it a bit more performance kick, make it closer to sl for that matter.

and until lexus really "finish" it up with their coupe lineup, 4-door coupe shouldn't be in the picture at all

If lexus is listening, this is my wish when the kids are out of their boosters:

1) hard top vert
sub $100k
GT is fine
2+ 2 usable rear seats, not made for amputees, munchkins, oopa loompas...

2) SCF the above (of course price will $100k+)

If not, Lotus is looking very good in the future
I'm not holding my breath too much on the bmw gran coupe.

so you saying the scf is similar to sc but more powerful, or scf is something "different" and closer to lfa?

Let the boys at Calty design the next generation SC! No French hair dresser inspired cars.

Lexus needs to come out with a $50-60K coupe. There is a huge void in their lineup and BMW and Mercedes is eating Lexus lunch! Common Lexus, when are you going to listen to your customers?

2+2, high revving 500ish hp v8, hardtop, <3600lbs, manual and paddle shift options, $<80k price tag....

They could also sell a couple versions with a base model with 350-400hp and an SCF model with 500hp.

I think the standard SC needs to stay GT, with far more performance than the current model. Think Jaguar XKR, but efficient and supremely reliable & opulent. Better looks, better handling, everything improved over last gen. The SC F though, has all right to be a mini-LFA, looks and performance... Though the Lotus Elite in fixed roof, 2 seat form would be perfect IMO (I think the SC should stay 2+2, hardtop convertible, while the SCF go hardtop, 2 seat only... for weight purposes of course ).

If the SC doesn't come back. I'll slap on a Lexus logo on a Lotus

As long as the new SC, is a proper 2+2 I'll be happy.
