"The LFA appeared on Top Gear in January 2010, where its power lap of 1.22.8[73] was the quickest wet test lap ever recorded on the Top Gear test track; it was 3 seconds faster than the nearest wet lap which was the all-wheel-drive Lamborghini Gallardo."

When I drove the LFA in the rain... It stuck to the wet track conditions like glue!!!

One of the stated objectives in building the LFA was to make it as safe for the drivers as possible i.e. not a widow maker. So it made perfect sense to have these tires. However, dedicated racing tires should be used in tests to show the true potential of this car too. I think we all know that single purpose anything is always better in its environment than multi-purposes counter parts.

My wife saw a video of me driving it and she said I was nuts for going that Fast in the rain...
I know what you’re saying about the tires..
But until someone independently decides to test out "different" dedicated racing tires, what you see is what you get.
What you’re getting is still very good for multi-purpose use.
Remember most regular LFA owners (in my own opinion), will be using them on Streets vs. Tracks
Anyone who has plans to seriously track their standard LFA, can decide to upgrade to dedicated racing tires..
If they so choose too..
Just like what you see with a very very small % of weekend IS-F racers…

Well what's great about Lexus is that they are giving the media an 'as purchased' example of the car. It speaks volumes about the integrity of the brand. How many companies have been accused of cheating and strong-arming the results? But it is only fair if there is a comparison test, the car should be prepared to exhibit its 'A' game.

The special invite by Lexus Corp. called for "Rain or Shine"... Our cards were dealt for Rain..!!
Let's just say driving it in the rain was truly an EPIC experience..!!!
^^ One of the last great shots of the Orange LFA before it went back to Pearl Gray ...
I like how the Smoky Granite Mica IS-F was hinting in the background...
..more to come
