Parts prices on the LFA.....
ARE INSANE! I just updated my parts lookup software at work and it includes the LFA. You want a front bumper? It's $11,000. A door? How about $26,000. Some parts don't come up with pricing yet. Mainly just body parts for now. If you get into a wreck that damages the monocoque, roof, or "frame", it has to be shipped to Germany.

Ranges from $3200-$5000 a piece. Depending on front/rear and which wheel. Chump change.
Front brake pads $3k
Spark plugs $160/each
Front rotors $500/each
According to the shop foreman, to do an oil change, you have to drain the 18qts of oil, put in new oil, get it up to temp., drain and refill again. So 36qts total.

the doors being that much means they're carbon fiber. if the car has to be sent to germany that means the chassis is damaged? I guess in Germany they have facilities to make another tub (F1 facility?)

Yes, I believe most of the body is what Lexus calls CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced-plastic). I find it funny also that the amenities manual states that you can get a loaner if your car is kept overnight. But, that you will NOT get another LFA as a loaner.

Why would the car need to be shipped to Germany for a roof replacement?
What does Germany have to do with the LFA to begin with? I don't recall any of the manufacturing process taking place there.... That's like shipping a Lamborghini to Japan to get the back spoiler installed? Makes no sense..... anyone know?

If a damaged LFA is shipped back to Germany, I believe it's because Toyota has their F1 carbon fiber oven facility there. I don't know the specifics, but perhaps Toyota Japan doesn't have the equipment to repair a damaged LFA in Japan so they send it to their German F1 facility instead?
Also the prices are expected given the cost and exclusivity of the car.
Given the fact that the brakes are carbon ceramic and not steel, cost of a brake job sounds like a bargain compared to an R35 GT-R .
