Well, I inquired and got to see the beast in person yesterday!
It's a white prototype from Japan. It must be one of the earlier one since I did not find an assigned number plate such as the P014 on the Yellow one. The car has red leather interior on black background. I was told the car's has been to many Autoshows.
The car was parked in a photo studio, so there was no actual driving. However, I was free to look at it in details and got to fire up the engine to listen to its melodies. It was quite an experience to see the car up close. It’s everything that I’ve read about. All I can say is I am even more in love now.
I was able to find out some interesting information that I can share here:
- I was introduced to the LFA head technician (can’t remember his exact title) from Lexus Canada. He’s trained in depth on all maintenance/repair aspects for the car. He’s responsible for all things more complicated than oil changes for all ten cars in Canada. He’s very knowledgeable, and will answer any questions I have.
- He’s confirmed that as far as he knows, there is no spoiler override button.
- He commented that the car can come apart quite easily (with tools that is).
- He showed me the customization menu on the car display, and we played with changing the gauge needle colors.
- The exposed CF question is now at the factory. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
- Lexus Canada did not want to bring additional LFA’s to give us a degree of exclusivity.
- The first Canada deliveries will be in the next few months.
- The weight of the fully loaded LFA is in the 3400 lbs range. The ML system and the motorized spoiler are the main culprits.

Joe Z, thanks for the tip off.
The head tech showed me the unpainted sides of the front hood so I could see what exposed CF would looks like. He think it should not be hard to do, but we still have to wait for the official words.
I am not any closer on the two reds, until I can see a Pearl Red in natural light I am still on the fence.

No problem at all !!

The only difference from what you saw is that it the roof and wing would have to have the proper clear coat (glossy) on it...

As it would have to be able to withstand the elements.

The Exposed CF on the prototype was indeed a Glossy Finish.

Well in my opinion on the color, you can have that Lexus Specialist get you larger color samples of both Reds from the factory, to help decide.

That way you can come to a better decision.

That is awesome!!! Great info.

It is a bummer that the spoiler cannot be retracted for best high speed acceleration since it will stay up during just a cruise on the highway. It has also been well established that the spoiler adds too much wind drag at very high speeds for optimum acceleration.

To my knowledge the spoiler might be vacuum pump activated...
So maybe a bypass switch can be made...

Also, was the photo studio inside Toyota / Lexus HQ in Toronto?

Yes, the photo studio is at Lexus/Toyota HQ here in Toronto. The Toronto International Auto Show is next week.

So I guessed it, most the weight is the sound system and the auto wing- Nurb edition should save some good weight back there with its fixed wing! Good to hear about exposed cf though, maybe someone will be brave enough to go with bare carbon for some body panels, roof/spoiler etc.

I think the motorized wing is a gimmick more than anything since the driver cannot retract it when he wants to.

I mean, the thing is not supposed to stay down above 50 mph under any circustamces so what is point of retracting it?? The motorized would have made sense if it was implemented the way Veyron does where the user can retract it for maximum high speed acceleration and use it in 'handling mode' when he needs maximum downforce.

Why not just put a fixed wing since retracting is all about below 50 mph driving where there is almost no wind drag that is going to affect off the line acceleration.

Thanks for all the info, very cool .

I would love to hear more about the customization menu. I had no idea you could change the gauge needle color.
