Default First ever Lexus LFA Launch control demonstration 0 - 260 km/h

Thanks to LickSauce for the awesome find.

0 - 260 km/h (162 mph) in only approx. 19 seconds hitting almost 9500 rpm in every gear. Insanely fast

good stuff, awesome to see it hitting red every gear so it seems like it's launching at 4000rpm huh.

Yes, everything is consistent with what the user manual says (The 'launch' indicator in the middle and also how revs rise to 4000 rpm before LFA dumps the clutch).

He went to nearly 9500 rpm in every gear. Well above the redline.

There is no clutch wear meter. What are you looking at??

This video does show how inadequate the Potenza S001 tires are for this much power on the LFA. It desperately needs sticky tires like the Pirelli Corsa or Michelin SS.

Wow awesome, LFA haters are in for a rude surprise .

Although it's still some teasing. We want some REAL numbers to silence the haters once and for all.

At the end fly by video, you can hear the engine sound reminiscent of pure Yamaha racing bikes (since no exhaust note could be heard).

I am wondering if it is the white European prototype or some production model LFA??

I did notice that the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) was not that quick mostly because of the wheel spin in the beginning. I remember LFA with launch control could easily beat the AWD R8 V10 to 60 mph so he must have launched too early before the revs settled. But, once the LFA got going over 60 mph, it pulled like a freight train and there are no holes or gaps in acceleration. Just linear and strong pull.

Just goes to show how amazing the torque curve is right uptill 9500 rpm.

Yeah, the asphalt appears to be a bit moist. Hence the wheel spin in the beginning.

That is the thing only a race motor does and no turbo could ever touch. No lags, no waits, no gaps, no holes. Just straight hard acceleration at every rpm at 3000 rpm or even at 9500 rpm.

He botched the Launch.

You're supposed to hold it at 4000rpm for a few seconds (4 I think) and wait for the Launch signal before releasing. He just revved to 4000rpm and dropped it off. Wrong start. Theres at least a half second to be found

Yes, I do believe LFA can get from 0 - 100 mph in 6.8 - 6.9 seconds with a proper launch.

I don't see why not! It hit 125mph (200kmh) in about 10-11 secs.

In a perfect day with the perfect setup and the perfect driver, I think 7's to 100 mph are reasonable. I'm not entirely going to rely on speedo readings, though. It won't be quicker than the Italia or any current similarly powered car with a double clutch gearbox, on the straights. There is an undeniable advantage with those transmissions. Here's what a bone-stock Italia just did at the track in AUTO mode. Those are 10-second traps, easily.

Now that Chris Harris came out with Ferrari's tendency for ringers, I wouldn't be surprised the LFA will produce incredible track times if it had the same advantages. I just wish the bashing of the car from all the car boards would stop. There are so many variables that are being overlooked. I also hope that a production, properly setup LFA gets tested again to really show its potential. The thing I hate more than anything are people rushing into judgment without looking at the solid facts. The car may seem archaic with the tech, but it is the type of car die-hard purists are looking for.

Wow, I didn't realize that the launch was done improperly. That definitely means there is even more speed to gain for the LFA.

I think with a perfect launch, it can match the 458 in straight-line speed. More importantly, an LFA will beat a 458 in the corners and on track, and most definitely in terms of reliability.

I also definitely wouldn't call the LFA "archaic" in terms of tech. Anyone who says that IMHO does not have a good understanding of all the tech in the LFA.
