probably coz' it was somewhat wet and he wasn't pushing the car to the fullest. when he took me out for hot laps, on a few corners he pushed the car hard and it started to slide and he made some quite adjustments. but he also commented on how balance the car is so nothing comes in too sudden and it's very predictable (which i agree after driving the car)

I mean, watch the satellite video VBOX details, he never ever shifts below 9500 rpm. From 3rd to 4th shift, the revs dropped to 8100 rpm. A few times I have even seen the needle touching 9600 - 9700 rpm.

regarding the vbox details, i don't know the details, but i am wondering if it's entirely accurate. looking at the vbox rpm and the redline beeping sound, it was a bit different from when i drove the car. unless when i drove the car the setting was different, when i put the car in full throttle, it will rev up and the beep came in just above 8500rpm. and together with reaction time to shift (i shifted after hearing the beep), it shifted right past 9000rpm. in the video, if everything matches, the beep came in well past the 9000rpm mark.

and from my memory when i looked at scott driving, the beep also came before the needle hit 9000rpm

personally i can't say i trust the vbox entirely (but someone can correct me). somewhat the same when i went to m school. the vbox video came back and the rpm wasn't completely accurate

^^ I agree... the data we see is not 100% accurate....

Remember the needle is the dash is whats important.. Not the one we see in the VBox Video..

Some of the speeds he was reading off seem to match the vbox though.

Scott was saying at the start of the video that he shifts around 9200rpm... did I hear wrong?

He just talked about his one last shift where he shifted at 9200 rpm. Scott already has stated that he regularly shifts at 9400 - 9500 rpm (AutoWeek interview).

I am extremely sure that 9500 rpm is completely accurate since it is well within the capacity of the revving range of the engine. Scott Pruett had mentioned in the AutoWeek interview that he shifts regularly at 9400 - 9500 rpm and the car has not missed a beat.

Regarding the beep, it is in the specifications that it is completely programmable so it depends on how it was set. I am not so sure about 9600 - 9700 rpm which I saw in the video a few times.

^^ Right.. that's exactly what we are talking about...

The digital vbox needle, may not be as accurate as what Scott is looking at or hearing for on the actual LFA TFT LCD display....

If you notice there was one spot where the passenger mentioned 133 mph, but we never saw it on the vbox display..

Either way it’s a GREAT VIDEO that demonstrates why the LFA was purposely built....

i think you can only be sure that it's doable to shift at 9500. i never doubted that. but i don't think you can in any way say the vbox is completely accurate.

yup, i noticed that too. on those 2 straight, scott could hit 130mph easily, and i also vaguely heard the passenger talking about 130mph (or 133?). but in the vbox display, i think the most i saw was 12x?

Yeah, the VBOX said 129 mph tops.

I am wondering how accurate LFA's speedo is. I read it somewhere that LFA's digital speedo is actually connected a satellite telemetry for accuracy in speed??

that's a good question, i wonder how accurate it is, especially at very high speed

^^ According to the Vbox display, you see it hit 130 mph @ approx. 1:29

But make sure you look fast and watch the video in HD.

edit: added 1:29 freeze frame

Also, @ approx 2:43 the passenger calls out "33".. Did that mean Scott's actual speedo was reading "133 mph.."

It's VERY possible... But who knows...!!

Interesting to note that the guy sitting in the passenger side is actually a video VBOX representative. The video was posted by VBOX.

The Video is obviously posted by Vbox USA... Yes agreed..

BUT, the passenger seems to be a very "Lucky Winner" of Hot Laps in the LFA with Scott Pruett.
Notice how Scott congratulated him at the end of the laps?

The video was recorded by Vbox, during the "Lexus IS Precision Tour",
which took place this past Saturday 2/19/11 ..

The Vbox rep was wearing a Vbox jacket with logo that day.
