I guess that makes sense, seeing as how the rear wheels are wider. What would a good wheel weight be in the sizes they are? I'm not very informed when it comes to these things.

the hre 3-piece forged i had, 20x9 and 20x10, i believe front were 26lb and rear were 28lb

1-piece should be even lighter

on light weight works wheels like the te37, 19s, they are below 20lbs. if you ask me, since lfa has 20x9.5 and 20x11.5, i think if the wheels are around 22lb front and 24lb rear, that's pretty light (just my guess)

i am definitely interested in finding out how much lfa wheels weigh

I wonder. Seeing as how they're aluminum, the one's on the Nurb edition should be even lighter. Forged magnesium saves a good bit over aluminum doesn't it? I wonder how far into detail these OEM parts will go.

i would think forged magnesium is lighter, otherwise what's the point. all the wheels i mentioned are forged aluminum already i think

I know magnesium is lighter, I'm just wondering by how much. I'm trying to make a guesstimate of what weight is taken off for the Nurb' edition. I'm just seeing how my estimate meets up with what they say, if we ever find out. F1 cars use magnesium wheels, and those guys are all about the lowest weight everything. So I'm assuming magnesium is where it's at for wheel metals.

Yes magnesium is lighter then aluminum wheels, but not by much, around 10% from my observations. Just a few lbs of weight saving from each wheel.

magnesium is the lightest wheel's material until the latest carbon fiber wheels came out. Some CF wheels are only CF on the rim section, the center piece is magnesium.

120 lbs is for the 4 bare wheels only, remember they are huge wheels, 20x11.5 in the back I think.

Tire usually weigh the same, or more then the wheel itself.

On a $400k car, sometimes it goes all the way.

I just did some research since you asked.

The OEM wheels off the Nur edition is essentially a forged magnesium BBS RE-Mg, I compared it to the closest looking 1 piece forged aluminum BBS RG-R. Comparing the same size wheels, the weight saving is roughly 1 KG each (2.2 lbs).

The interesting observations here is, as the size goes up, the weight saving goes down.

Isn't magnesium more than just a weight savings technique? I thought there was more to it than that. That maybe it was a stronger metal or something. Are the tires on the regular LFA run flats? If they are and the one's on the Nurb' edition aren't, that might be a good bit of weight off too.

Magnesium is only good for weight savings, it is actually inferior for everything else. It is brittle, they crack easily on impact, that's why they are mostly just use for race wheels since there is no potholes on the track. They are also porous so the wheel usually don't hold air very well. You can find Magnesium being use on components that don't see a lot of stress, like valve cover and tranny cases and pans.

Yeah I don't think anyone likes runflats.

I always question can you really drive on runflats with zero air pressure, I should try it right before I get rid of my runflats.
