Default Nurburgring SP8 class race LFA Fuji lap in 1:47.31

Remember the race car is limited to 7500 rpm, detuned power to 480 HP (560 PS achieved at 8700 rpm) and also weighs similar to street LFA at 3300 lbs.

Secret is, super-slick race tires, aggressively tuned suspension and more downforce:

The engine sounded different. I wonder if that is due to the detuning or they also modded the the intake/exhaust system.

8 seconds a lap faster than the production variant. Very nice. This model also has wider F/R fenders for wider tires, no? So would this car be comparable to the GT3 cup cars from Porsche?

Is there a chance the production model receive an HP boost for 2013?

It will be identical through out the two year production run. No changes whatsoever.

Lexus could have done that after 1 year of prototypes being out in the press and for the public to test or better yet, given it better dry grip tires in the wake of feedback. However, now that it has gone into production and customers have taken delivery of LFAs, it is impossible since it will be completely unfair to the owners of the 2012 who paid for the same car.

Yes, it is wider. However, since LFA competes in the near-stock SP8 class. The enhancement modifications are very limited. It competes with restrictors and weight penalties (3350 lbs) on to make it fair with other cars in the 4.0 - 6.2 Liter near-stock class. 560 PS is way too much power for the SP8 class.

GT3 is extensively modified for the GT3 class since GT class can have many modifications including extensive weight reduction. So the GT3 Cup cars weigh less than 2800 lbs.

The ring cars are already below 500hp thanks to the air restrictors. So rev limited they're down more.

These are the ring cars. They aren't making any less than 480hp or so.

Yeah, that's what I just said. The RING CARS (which these are) are already BELOW 500hp in race trim and not rev limited (still air restricted). So with the rev limiter (at Fuji in these videos) they have to be down more.
