Rumor: LFA II

Even amidst the disastrous situation on their island nation, the Japanese are showing no signs of slowing down. At least, not when it comes to its supercars. Honda was recently reported to be forging ahead with on-again, off-again plans to resurrect its NSX supercar, Nissan is hard at work on the new GT-R and now Toyota is said to be working on a new version of the Lexus LFA.
While the handle being used in the interim might suggest a completely new successor, rumor has it that an LFA II is being developed as a variant of the existing model. Following in the footsteps of the above-pictured Nürburgring package, Japan's Best Car says that the so-called LFA II is expected to push the performance envelope even further. Just what that will entail – or for that matter, if it will come to fruition at all – remains to be seen, but if there's any truth to the reports, we certainly applaud the company's spirit.

Thanks for the link. I did notice that the GTR R-spec got a bump to 560hp
Whats confusing is will this LFA II then be more production units from the original 500? Doesn't make sense from that standpoint.
Original article if someone can read French!

Really exciting rumor. I hope this happens. It also will show how much confidence did LFA give to Toyota Corp and are looking to build on the momentum they got from LFA.
However, the owners of the LFA might feel it will be a kick in the gut.

Typical automotive journalism rumor mill at work - the only thing missing is a totally irrelevant, imagined-up rendering. There is no LFA-level project at this time, otherwise we'd have heard the chatter. Keep your eyes open for some other fun stuff, though.

I'm not really surprised. I think I predicted this in one of the many threads on the LFA around here...or some other site.
With so much debate about it's success or lack there of, I think it's a good move to produce variations. Especially if the power is bumpred up significantly. As soon as I heard the car had only 550 hp coming from a V10, I thought they must be planning future power boosts. I'll bet they coax at least another 100 ponies out of the engine. At least.
