LFA will be faster around a track, but slower in acceleration. The GTO weighs probably less than this LFA does as well. Ferrarichat is going to have a field day or a major headache with this one!

The GTB HGTE weighs 4000 lbs and the GTO weighs 3700 - 3800 lbs so it is heavier than the LFA.
However, I have a tough time believing a standard LFA on S001 tires will beat the GTO around the track. I think the GTO will be quicker, but it is only speculation at this point.

1495kg, which means below 3300lb
but here's another place that says 3500lb, making it heavier than lfa
http://cars.findthebest.com/question...errari-599-GTO
either way, i also think the gto will be faster around the track, but it's far more geared towards track than the lfa imho, and marginally a suitable road car

Thanks Dave. So that means the next edition with the Lexus LFA and 599 GTO comparison. Good to hear it will be available in Canada/US at the bookstore as well. I want to have a hardcopy of this one, definitely.
What you quoted is similar to how the official curb weight of LFA is 3250 lbs. However, the test cars tip the scale in the 3400 - 3500 lbs region. The 599 GTB HGTE officially is 3700 lbs, but actually weighed 4000 lbs in the LFA vs 599 GTB HGTE comparison
CarAndDriver claims the car weighed in at 3850 lbs so it is heavier than what I initially had predicted:
VEHICLE TYPE: front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 2-passenger, 2-door coupe
ESTIMATED BASE PRICE: $450,000
ENGINE TYPE: DOHC 48-valve V-12, aluminum block and heads, port fuel injection
Displacement: 366 cu in, 5999 cc
Power (SAE net): 661 bhp @ 8250 rpm
Torque (SAE net): 457 lb-ft @ 6500 rpm
TRANSMISSION: 6-speed automated manual
DIMENSIONS:
Wheelbase: 108.3 in Length: 185.4 in
Width: 77.2 in Height: 52.2 in
Curb weight: 3850 lb
PERFORMANCE:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.1 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 6.5 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.0 sec
Top speed (redline limited): 208 mph
FUEL ECONOMY (C/D EST):
EPA city/highway driving: 11/15 mpg

From what I've read, the LFA is more contented than the GTO, which is why I said it probably weighs more. Owners on Ferrarichat also weigh their cars and I've seen 3400lbs. If Ferrari gave them a 'special' car, it may as well weigh as little as possible, have special fuel, shaved tires, upgraded engine cpu etc. I bet the LFA is faster around the track though, if they track test them.

The weight measured by CarAndDriver is about right. 150 lbs lighter than the 599 GTB HGTE.
You should remember, the 599 GTO is physically a MUCH larger car, the chassis is still all aluminum, the drivetrain of 6.0 Liter V12 and the differential are very heavy. They did the weight reduction through usage of some carbon fiber components to the tune of 150 - 200 lbs.
Yes, they will be track tested since Evo usually does on the Bedford Autodrome. I would be shocked if LFA is as quick or quicker than the 599 GTO. I think Ferrari sent a 599 GTO already tuned and prep'ed on this race track.
Look at where the 458 Italia is right now. All tests were conducted by Evo:

If they don't have a passenger it should be a good lap for the LFA. The GTO can be had pretty light. Decontented with metal/no floor-mats, carbon fiber seats etc. They can make it pretty darn light especially with low fuel.

Ferrari's speedo looks much more accurate at very high speeds. It say 196 mph on the speedo and the GPS says 193 mph while LFA's speedo indicated 185 mph and the GPS said 179 mph
