Jay Leno drives the Lexus LFA
#6
There is a reason behind him deciding never to buy a Ferrari because of his perception of the brand itself. Using that rationale, he did not buy LFA because he does not like Lexus as a brand.
He usually gets all of the best collector cars and LFA especially the Nurburgring edition is right up his alley. Last year, he bought a Maclaren MP4-12C.

Thanks for posting these vids Rolla.
I thought this was incredibly positive.
Jay and the magazine guy touch on all the key points we have heard over and over again.
The only trivia points the magazine guy missed were the number of 200GTs sold and rounding the HP to 560.
Jay called it the greatest Japanese super car ever, only referred to the GTR later when talking about brand development efforts and was only favorable in his descriptions of the car and Toyota's efforts.
He never mentioned the allocation and lease issues.
Jay clearly enjoyed the car on the road and said he could drive it every day.
Summing it up, he sees the LFA as a top tier supe rcar, oriented to the road driving experience that is completely reliable, easy to maintain and offers the Lexus ownership experience.

Since the Road and Track editor was "roaming around in the LFA", I wonder if a Road and track LFA test will be published soon?
I see this as a breath of fresh air after seeing the very bizzare Motor Trend video where supposedly the previously Lexus appointed Justin Bell completely changing his tone on the LFA and saying something ridiculous as "unless you are a professional, LFA is not a confidence inspiring car on the track", which is a load of .... considering he said the exact opposite at the Infineon raceway to perspective customers that it is one of the most confidence inspiring car he has ever driven.
That is why I like Scott Pruett a lot because good or bad he always says things that he would consistently to everyone at all times unlike Justin Bell.
Ofcourse, it was because Motor Trend had been feeding them all of these lines to say. I hope Lexus never gives Motor Trend another LFA ever and use mostly Scott Pruett instead of Justin Bell for track laps with customers.
I would really like to ask Justin "so which one is it mr. Bell?? what you said to perspective customers when Lexus was paying to impress the customers or when Motor Trend was paying you to be the mouth piece of what they want to convey".

i have tried to stay quiet and see how a lot of people (not just on clublexus) respond, and so far it seems pretty positive from jay's reviews. i think that's great. his comments again echo what a lot of people (not just journalists but also everyday driving people) think of the car. some other cars do some things better, but the lfa puts everything together so well and balanced. that's exactly how i feel, what a package.
it's interesting when jay said toyoda brought the prototype to him years ago. i guess toyoda wanted him to get one but jay probably declined huh

Great to finally see Leno do an in-depth on the LFA, but wow, what a disappointment on the video itself. They only used the interior sound and never the screaming exhaust, which was rarely in sync with what the viewer was being shown.

Thanks for posting up the vid.
Jay was driving down Burbank near Fry's Electronics on the first half of the second video. Towards the second half before he enters the fwy, it's a long stretch of road that's completely empty at night. It's the road I always use to bed-in my brakes because it has no street traffic lights and it connects to the 210 fwy for the cool down process, without me having to use my brakes after a hard bed-in.
