That made my day, thanks Rolla. I had to watch it twice just to listen to the sound...

Wish they had used a nice grippy drag strip surface to do that video they typically use. Looks like a very dusty and old runway type location. Probably the old El Torro track.

Anyway, looks like it must be from an upcoming test/comparo.

No doubt more traction would help the run. However, I believe the best part was how the V10 reved up, and for some reason I had the image of a rocket launch in my head when I heard that. I've seen a lot of videos of launches by other cars and nothing came close.

Motortrend claims it is almost impossible to get a 0-60 mph in less than 4.0 seconds in the LFA. Very very sad! It looks terrible when the manufacturer claim is half a second off (if they are correct as it does not seem consistent with other magazine tests).

Though, looks like a comparo is coming, knowing Motortrend it will be pretty awful for the LFA. I am quite sure of that. They placed LFA near the bottom in the last time in an 11 car comparison.

Reading the comments, it gives the haters all the more reason to hate on the LFA.

0-60 at this kind of time / speed, i think it really comes down to traction

I agree with what you are saying that 0-60 mph is all about traction. You could be making 1000 HP, but run 4 seconds 0-60 mph, if you don't have traction.

However, if you have read Carlos@MotorTrend's comments, he is saying LFA is not capable of running (atleast with these tires) anything better than 4.0 seconds 0-60 mph since he claims they have tested LFA in various conditions and with 1-foot roll out and they never got better than 4.0 seconds 0-60 mph. Even 400 HP cars these days with good tires do that.

Obviously, I was hoping Lexus will not give them the LFA after they placed LFA near the bottom in the 11 car comparo previously. Yet, Lexus handed the very publication that trashes LFA the most.

I would much rather see Caranddriver do this test than Motortrend. I can bet the comparison coming on wednesday is with their long-term '13 Nissan GTR they have in their stable and you will see how they will glorify the GTR compared to LFA. Mark my words.

that would be stupid and show lexus is just like ferrari, might as well prep the car "differently". it should be better of exposing the car and get words out there. just because MT placed it last and lexus should ignore them, that's no class

I agree it will not be good to exhibit the same type of behavior that Ferrari does. That truly is unacceptable level of censorship.

I also realize many people believe "any publicity negative or positive is good publicity", but I am not entirely convinced that it is true in this particular case.

The massive torrent of negative publicity for over 2 years that has hovered like a dark cloud over the LFA more than likely has hurt LFA image badly and also its sales and put Lexus in a position where perspective buyers are not entirely convinced that it delivers on the promises Lexus initially made. Atleast, that is what I personally believe. That is what Tommy James' entire point of rambling was for 3 months.

I am not sure how else to perceive when people relentlessly everywhere I see are trying to convince other people that LFA is truly a $80,000 car masquerading as a $375,000 exotic car that should be cheaper than a Nissan GTR, but Lexus tried to fool buyers into believing it is more than what it actually is. I know as much as anyone that this could not be farther from the truth, but there are so many naive and gullible people who seek approval of everyone that surrounds them and buy cars so that they don't get ridiculed for grossly overpaying.

That is why I really firmly believe sometimes not having any publicity and retaining an element of mystery is much better than having negative publicity over the long term and grand scheme of things.

Again, I am only discussing this in a civilized way and is not intended to offend anyone.

Do we really need to take threads OT with rehashed commentary on tire choice / surface grip or various (IMO unevidenced) claims on how publicity has negatively affected sales or where at all Lexus has failed to "deliver on promises"? All that can go in another thread...
