Do you remember the first time you saw and heard an LFA in person?
I do, for me it was 2 days ago!
There are just not a lot of opportunities to be in the presence of this fine automobile around where I live. But that changed when I was lucky enough to receive an invite to the Lexus IS Ride and Drive event in Foxboro, Mass. The event itself was phenomenal (I may do a Car Chat write up at some point) but the cherry on top was there would be a LFA there, and that there would be some Hot Laps run.
So on 8/18/2013 I finally got to see one in person. Truly a magnificently beautiful car. The sound at startup and when it went ‘wailing’ by us was something that needs to be witnessed and enjoyed in person in order to be truly appreciated. Sitting in & riding in one is still on my bucket list but that’s fine as I know it will be worth the wait.
Now I know some of you are thinking “welcome to 2011” as this is old news for many of you. One of the great things about the CL community is that we are all in different places when it comes to our exposure with the LFA. Some have never been in its presence, some have seen it but not heard that magnificent exhaust note, some have driven in one, and some can go out their garage to be with one. No matter the category do you remember the first time you saw and heard an LFA in person?
I made this video for myself but wanted to share it for anyone who’s interested. It’s a quick 3 minute video that consists of a walk around of the LFA and then the 2nd of 4 hot laps the LFA ran that afternoon. (Available in HD )
A couple of notes about the hot lap. 1) I felt a real connection watching the LFA run a hot lap on a course I drove myself over a dozen times already that day. 2) What impressed me most about the hot lap was that it was no Sunday drive. On that on that tight course with lots of turns and few straights the driver was truly ‘driving it like he stole it’ and really put on a great show!
How easy to power oversteer an LFA at very slow speeds.
Agreed. I was pleasantly surprised (read shocked!) the driver was pushing that hard and able to do some of those moves. Having said that it was TOTALLY AWESOME
January 12, 2012... When I special ordered my 2013 GS350. The LFA was silver/blk. It was in the Bay Area of Lexus of Rockville Centre in LI. I remember just saying... "DAMN". The exhaust was music to my ears.

Great memory! I agree the LFAs sound is as intoxicating as it's beauty.
