Default Best place to buy HID kits

I'm trying to get some info to buy a christmas gift for my husband and I'm hoping you guys can help, PLEASE!. First Iam female and don't know jack s***t about this stuff. He is interested in buying a HID retro fit kit for our RX300 it is a 2001. I would need to do this before they are banned. He also has a 1990 Bonniville SSE, that I know he wouldn't mind having them on as well. I was not sure if I walk into Pep Boys or Advance Auto, if they would look at me like I was crazy or even mis-lead me (bats eye lashes). I would greatly appricate any info or help you can offer. there are lots of aftermarket hid vendors out there but i would recommend Proxenon.com as I've purchased a few from them already and have had great results

Thanks for the tip!
I want to have some knowledge of what I'm talking about. What is the best and why? Being female I don't want to seem helpless, you know what I mean?

I am going to order the phillips 6000k conversion kit(Lo beam only), but i want to change all of the other lights to match the HID's when I get it installed. What are the closest bulbs that match the phillips 6000k hids??

Big D thanks for the info, from what I'm to understand they are going to put a ban on the after market HID's so time is of the essence. If your going to do it . . .do it.

SC400 you do know that the ban is already in effect right? Do a search in this very forum and you'll see the links etc....

The ban has been in effect for a while now, but that only prevents people here in the US selling them or importing them since companies outside the US cannot be faced with any penalties. I spent a lot of time researching before I bought a kit for my RX300 so here are a few places that you CAN get a HID kit from.

HID-Online.com
xenondepot.com
or send this guy an email - jus4bulbs@yahoo.com

BTW, proxenon does NOT use phillips bulbs so stay away.

The thing to look for are PHILLIPS BALLASTS AND BULBS ONLY! These three are known to have good products and services. I went with a kit from HID-online. A bit pricier but worth it in my opinion.
