What blubs to replace factory HID on 98 GS400?
I read online someplace that the 98-01 GS with HID uses Osram D2R while later models use Philips D2R bubls?
Well where can you find Osram D2R bulbs? No local auto parts stores have them and my local dealership isn't answering their phone for some reason. I don't want to drive around too much with a burnt out bulb considering how early it gets dark this time of year.
Is there a aftermarket bulb that you can use instead of the factory HID's? I'm not looking to change the color or anything just need a OEM replacement.
Advance Auto Parts has some Sylvania bulbs listed for my car which say HID but I think they mean they have a HID look?
Thanks

well some people go with 6000k instead of the stock 4100k color, but that's up to you. you can get the bulbs from places like autolamps-online.com
i suggest changing both bulbs, coz' the color would be different if you change just one

Thanks for the info. So the Xenon Discharge D2R that AutoLampsOnline sells will work in place of the factory GS400 HID lamp? It says the Xenon Discharge D2R are 35watt but I read on another site that the factory GS400 lamps are 55 watt. Is that an issue?
The dealership says they want around 360 a lamp! I konw there is cheaper out there. That's a crazy price.

Yeah Ebay. Just do a search under D2R and knock yourself silly with how cheap the prices are. Definately a fraction of dealer cost. I've bought many bulbs there. I use D2S and and bought both Philips and Oram. I recommend trying a new set of Philips D2Rs. They'll fit. By the way, all Xenon's factory (4300K color) are 35 watt anyway. The good news is, you can find a new set for around $70.00! Good luck and post pics once you're done. They pop right in.
