Closest 9006 bulb to HID color
In replacing my lower fog lights in LS430 (02) that are listed to be 9006 bulbs. What would get me closest to matching my HID color. Would it be Sylvania 9006CB (Cool Blue) or Silverstars? Any other recommendations?
Thanks,
Thanks,

I have heard Hoen are supposed to be very close to HID.

I posted a thread to see what others think, my friend put them on his M3 to match his HID and they look almost the same. I am going to order some and I will let you know what they are like when I get them.

Thanks guys!
Romiln, Do you think the Razo Platinum White would be OK. I've read the White Zero's are higher wattage than the standard Razo Platinum White. I'm not interested in increasing the wattage, but just changing the color to match my factory HID's.

Thanks I'll order in a set of Razo Premium White. I'll let you know how they match up with the HIDs. They are sure to look better than the stock bulbs.

I know nobody likes these bulbs, but I had APC bulbs in my car before I did my HID mod on my '98 ES and if I ever learn how to post pictures I will, showing the APC bulb in the halogen housing on one side and the HID housing on the other side. After the HID is warmed up they are almost identical. The HID has a hint more violet than the APC but they are really close.
The APC bulb is a high wattage bulb, but I never had any signs of harness damage. The housing makes a big difference when using simulated HID bulbs and the ES lens does not have the molded in lines common to earlier designs that can distort light output.
Still, I don't think any blue halogen bulb gives the same effect as true HID. I have ran my car for quite a while with HID on one side and blue APC halogen on the other and whenever you pull up behind another car esp. a white one, it's amazing how the APC bulb looks more yellow than the HID. I personally think that blue halogens are more distracting to oncoming traffic than HID's(with or without auto leveling) and with all of this talk of banning HID's I think they should focus on these blue bulbs.
But it's ovious that some halogen housing are just not made for blue bulbs. I hate to see someone with a Ford pickup or some similar vehicle that has a translucent lens, not transparent, coming at you with blue light being scattered in all directions or even worse those lights that shift from a vomit green to a Pepto Bismol red as they pass you, these may work on some vehicles but should be avoided on others.

I want to do the same upgrade on my new 2004 but for the life of me cannot figure out how much of that lower shroud I need to remove just to get at the fog lights. I started removing about six screws on the driver's side and nothing budged. Did you guys do this yourself or have someone do it? My Mercedes had little trap doors in the plastic pan to let you get at the lights. Any input appreciated. Search did not find what I needed. Thanks!
