H3 bulb in a H3C housing
#4
Yes it does work, I have H3 hyper whites in my 90 LS400, with the fogs cleared. The bases are actually the same size, so it fits perfectly. The only difference is that the HC3 has a matching male plug to the OEM female plug. I didn't bother to splice, I just plugged the positive wire(which is attached to a spade like thing) into the positive side of the OEM plug. The ground is the base of the bulb itself, and I just crimped another similar spade thing onto the a wire, and secured the other end to the base(the base is screwed in and is tight enough to keep a good connection. I wrapped it all up in electrical tape to keep it from falling apart, and it has worked well for almost a year, now. Ghetto--yes, lazy--yes, works--yes, looks good--definitely!

I just got my HID's, but I've had silverstars too. . . nothing like high output bulbs. I've heard a lot about high outputs being dangerous, but I've run 80/100 bulbs (9004) for four years and never had any problems whatsoever. The best price/output brand was APC(make sure they are the real 80/100 watt and not 80/100 equivalent output. They look really nice and really make a difference. Worth $20

Click there for pics. . . sorry but they aren't so great. . . most were taken with a crappy camera. Kragen used to sell them, but they got in trouble since they are not DOT approved and no longer carry them. You can get it easily off the net tho. And avoid ebay for bulbs! Eck!

Djctwatt- can you take pics on how you did that H3 bulb into the H3C bulb? It's kinda difficult to find the H3C bulbs and I really dont want to go to the dealer to buy a bulb.
What part number is the corner lights?
And what about the bumper lights, what kind of bulbs do they take?

Lexkost, very cool! Did you just fit a H3 bulb in? I dunno about the newer LS's like yours, but my corner lenses are made of plastic, I dunno if mine could take the heat. . . on the M6 in the corner, will that fit through the hole? I havn't tried, but I think the bulb is slightly fatter than the M4. Do you just cut a bigger hole or?

Oh yeah, and on pics of an DIY, I'll get on that probably get it done sometime this weekend. Oh and on the instructions I put, I wasn't exactly very concise, although if any of you tried it, you wouldn't have blown anything up. . . it just wouldn't have worked. When you attach a wire to the base you have to attach a spade to the other end, and connect that spade to the ground on the plug.
So:
1) spade on bulb is positive-- goes to positve lead on OEM plug
2) bulb grounds through base
3) I attached a wire from the base of the bulb to the negative lead on the OEM plug
to make sure there was a good ground, but I'm not even sure if you need to do this, because the
housing itself is probably already grounded( I might have tested the other method, but it's been years
since I've opened it. I will find out tomorrow and let you guys know)

On the topic of putting the fogs in the parking lights...you're gonna encounter 2 problems:
1) the fog light bulb not fitting properly, without major modifications to the parking light housing, and
2) the parking light housing will not be able to take the heat from the fog light bulb itself and will either melt or leave burn marks on the inside of the plastic.
