What about D2S? I read somewhere that those were better than D2Rs....

And yeah, my headlight now turns on bright white.....fades to pink......flickers.....and gone.

I gotta get some new light bulbs quick!

I've need to know whether the bulbs are either D2S or D2R and who should I go to to get a good price for 6000K bulbs?

d2s is for projective housing. it won't fit in the d2r housing unless you do some mod to the bulb base.

read the lighting forum, i think someone has just talked about where to get bulbs and wht to get

btw if you order, you should order two. if you just put in one new bulb, you will see color difference between the two

Default I THOUGHT THE 99GS4 HAD THE 6000K HIDS'

Sorry,
but I am confused guys. I always thought that the GS4 had 6000k hids as standard equipment, but now someone says that the standard HIDS' are 4100k. Can anyone shed some light on this, or am I just reading this wrong? I have great lights now, but I am starting to get worried.

Thanks,

Last I checked, all OEM HIDs (not just Toyota) are 4100k. Some here have replaced their bulbs with 6000k ones to get a more whitish blue hue.

all oem hid, no matter which manufacrturer (audi, lexus, mb, bimmer, acura, infiniti), they are all 4100k. that's the ONLY legal hid bulb.

Default I THANK THE EXPERTS

Now I know what I am up against. I am quite happy with the stock lighting system. Does the 6000K make the lights appreciably brighter, or is it a numbers game? I also understand that bigger stronger ballasts are needed to make those larger HID'S work properly.

I hope I don't have any problems any time soon, but I think I'm sticking with the stock lights when that time comes.

The 6000k is actually less bright than the 4100k. It is more color than output but the higher up the spectrum you go, the more purple you get but the less output you get. On reflectors, the 4100k could still have a bit of yellow in it while the 6000k is pretty white with a hint of blue. If your main concern is max output, then I'd stay with the stock 4100k. If you want a whiter hue, the 6000k is still (to me) plenty bright.

actually, i have had a lot of experience with 4100k vs 6000k on 3 cars. yes by theory the 6000k has less light output on the road, and there is no arguement about that. however, with the 3 cars i have owned, practically, i don't see any less light on the road with the 6000k. my thinking would be the margin is small enough to notice

now 8000k though, for example, is just plain stupid. first of all it's so blue you will get pulled over probably (6000k is still white enough and never have problem), second the light output on the road is so bad, when i sat in my friend's car with 8000k, i almost had to help hold a flashlight....
